I'd call you an outcast for being in the marching band, but that's just me. :P

Re: Do society a favor!

What type of sad people actually sit there and calculate all these "facts"? I mean...Im not a social guy by any means (Ive got about five real friends...but with a choice of a book or friends, the book wins...), but Im not a terrorist that kills puppies for fun either. That one prick...uhm, Leiberman...I hate that guy. Hes that one dude that is actually trying make games rated Mature illegal. Can yall believe that? I cuss all the time. All the time. But I still get all "A"s. I keep to myself, but people still like me. Im sure there are exceptions, but those ****s are just crazy (usually). I say blame all this on those damn colombine idiots. With their whole "Thisll be like Doom and Duke combined!" ****. They ruined it for all of us not only on the game front, but now I cant wear my faorite trench coat to schooL! AGH! Irratating man, really irratating.

Re: Do society a favor!

My school didn't have a marching band. It would've been a pretty sad little march, if he had.

since our culture will sue anything that walks (or crawls or ... ) I wouldn't say that.

See, at my school, we had all kinds of classification of nerds. Band nerds, choir nerds, math nerds, computer nerds, etc etc etc.

What was cool was if you could get into more than one class of nerds. big time score, baby.

I can see you as a soldier, Cingular. You seem to be very by-the-books and alert.

LOL! A soldier? Me? Never!

I was in the Marines for almost a decade, though!

Re: Do society a favor!

[steps up onto soap box]
The Columbine boys were disturbed, no denying that. However the entire community was aware of their behavior, their gaming habits and their warped sense of right and wrong. Did anyone make any attempts to help those boys PRIOR to the shootings? No.

I have big issues with these parents and politicians that are trying to put a ban on games and taking the easy way out by blaming all of society's problems on games. Maybe its just me but as a parent, I should damn well be aware of how much time my child is spending online playing games, as a parent I should be aware of what games he/she is playing on a regular basis, as a parent it is MY job to make sure that my child isnt taking a game too seriously and its MY job to seek help for my child when the obvious signs of gaming addiction appear.

I think it is utter nonsense to blame the gaming industry for issues that are cleary cases of parents who dont pay attention to their children.

My daughter games, I game, my b/f games.... I know what my daughter is doing online at all times, Im aware of what games she plays and I monitor the amount of time she is allowed to spend gaming and chatting online. THAT is what a parent should be doing. If they want to point fingers.... point them at the parents who use computers to babysit their kids, point then at the parents who let computers occupy all of their childrens spare time so that they as parents dont have to deal with their own kids, point them at the parents who are so wrapped up in their own lives that they dont have a clue what is going on with their own children. DO NOT point your fingers at a gaming industry for producing a game that the MAJORITY of gamers play for simple enjoyment with no violent tendancies and no warped sense of revenge.

The people who belong to MAVAV should take a good hard look in the mirror.... or maybe they should skip the mirror and take a peek at their kids once in a while.

[/steps off of soap box]

Re: Do society a favor!

I almost started crying with laughter after I saw this:

" Never assume drugs or otherwise is the problem for your child's poor academic performance. Video game addiction is not to be under-estimated. It is a serious epidemic plaguing our children nationwide. We recommend getting professional psychiatric help."

Never assume that your child is a dumbass or is skipping classes.Just assume that Mario has taken over his/mind and forced him to burn everything in a ten mile radius.

Thank you,
MAVAV.

Re: Do society a favor!

I think you are onto something. All this funny technology stuff being used in video games, I bet they found the key to mind control. And MAVAV is just pissed because they want the secret to force us to watch the home shopping network and buy everything in sight. And the Hallmark Channel will be our guide to solving the riddle of life.

They are just as out there as PETA is. At a school about an hour away from me, PETA was handing out flyers to school children about parents wearing fur. They have stooped to a new low, targeting the children of parents who wear fur. Come on morons, I must quote The Shatner in saying "Get a life." What has society come to? May all PETA and MAVAV members be somehow blessed with an ounce of wisdom in order to understand how foolish they truly are.

The point is, they both know no one will listen to them unless they too are living in a dream world where problems are caused by feral fur wearing pre-teenagers. The lot of them makes me sick.

lol

I just sent them an email. All true TG members must now line up to denounce me, for I have committed the greatest crime imaginable against you. I....this is hard to admint to.....I PAID for my copy of HL2. I'm sorry. I'll promise to download a pirate copy if you let me stay.

I quoted their nonsense about school grades in my email to them - D in computer science, and a B in business management. Oh and all my friends that work in IT don't do gaming. They can't see any attraction in it, so clearly they're not reall IT people. Ones just pretending to be a linux sysadmin, and another is a techophobe in access programmers clothing.
