About waiting on the TC supercharger....eh, you may be waiting a while. They keep pushing it back. Hp will be at 200hp which would be a kick in the pants. I feel the 160 moves the car nicely now. It's no vette, but it's no civic either. Also you could buy the car and get the s/c installed later and therefore have cheaper payments up front. Also realize that that will be pushing the limits of the stock clutch. People who have been turboing the TC have been saying the clutch flies like a frisbee above 5 lbs of boost.

Interesting, thanks for the info! I'll have to talk to my dealer about it.

Re: Got a new ride!!

New report today - E-class is the safest car on the road in terms of driver death rates. http://www.iihs.org/srpdfs/sr4003.pdf

My wife drives an e-class wagon (and I drive her old bucket Pathfinder - go figure). I've driven Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche. Lexus may massage your back and make coffee for you for a reasonable price, but driving a high-end german car is a totally different experience. Nothing beats 'em. They have near psychic handling and everything inside just plain works and feels great. It's like wearing a nice suit - it feels great and you look good in it too.

It might even get you laid.

Either that of the squeaky door, carpet stains, broken stereo, balding tires that sqeal like starsky and hutch whenever I go through a turn over 10mph, and smell of wet dog in the pathfinder.

Chica bow bow.

Go look at any review and u will see the Lexus Ls430 beat anything its compared to. The Lexus Ls430 is the quietest and smoothest ride u will find between the 2.

The LS 430 can, in fact, be driven hard, whereupon it reveals lots of grip and very good handling. It responds predictably when driven to the limit of the tires in corners, though it doesn't encourage you to do so the way a BMW does. The softness of the suspension results in squirmy transient response when compared with the BMW 745i. But the LS 430 does generate lots of grip and offers the responsiveness afforded by rear-wheel drive and double-wishbone suspension front and rear.

To say the Lexus V8 is smooth and quiet is an understatement, and the new six-speed automatic shifts so smoothly it's almost seamless. The 4.3-liter V8 generates 290 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, the latter figure contributing to the LS 430's impressive acceleration performance. Lexus says the LS 430 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

Unless you're looking for a sporting driving experience or an all-encompassing vehicle management system like the 7 Series' iDrive, the LS meets or beats the competition in just about any category. Take into account the negligible price increase for 2004, and the LS 430 is definitely worth a second look.

On the highway, the car automatically lowers itself by about an inch, which improves aerodynamics and thus fuel mileage. Airmatic features adaptive damping, which allows the driver to adjust the shock absorbers according to road conditions, load and speed, from softer to firmer. Or the suspension will do this automatically. This system is not the same as the more complex Active Body Control suspension, which is optional on the S500 and S430 and standard on the S600 and S55 AMG, and virtually eliminates body roll in cornering, squat under acceleration, and dive during braking. The Airmatic suspension has three settings. One tester thought the firm setting was quite livable and appropriate for all situations, while another preferred the soft and middle settings around town.

As expected, the S-Class is quiet, really quiet, when it's blasting along at high speeds. But the Airmatic suspension isn't perfect. It rocked over shallow holes in the road at 10 mph, and at the speed limit we could feel it lift from side to side over rough or grooved surfaces. We could also feel a jiggling in the steering wheel over bumps on an otherwise smooth road.

I would have to admit they are a very close competition and both are awesome cars, but... If you look at any review the Benz gets a 5 outta 10 on reliabilty. I dont know about u but i dont wanna pay 80 grand on a car that breaks down.

The Lexus Ls430- $55,000-60,000 is 0-60 in 5.8 seconds.
The Mercedes s500 - $86,000-96,000is 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.
This really makes no difference i just thought i would post it for all those who say that German cars have more power then Japanese cars.

For 20-30 grand less i would have to choose the Lexus. I dont know how u can say its a different feeling in the Benz I have driven a Benz E350 well the earlier version of that i think its an E320 2002 version. There is nothing special about it. Since they have owned it they have had some problems with it to where it needed to be taken in immediately. I own a Lexus es300 2000 model and it is not as luxuries saying that its the cheapest Lexus and the E-class is like 35 grand more or wutever, but i have never had to take it in for anything but the ruiting checkup. Hell mine is even more comfortable the Benz seats always seem to be hard.

My summary is...
1. There is no feature the benz has that the Lexus doesn't yet the Lexus has even more (except for those damn headlight wipers idk wut good those do unless it snows?)
2. The mercedes has no more power actually the Lexus has more power.
3. The Lexus will almost never if not never break down while the Benz most likely will.
4. The Lexus is Smoother and Quieter.
5. The Lexus is $35,000 cheaper.
6. The Lexus has the greatest sound system in any stock car the Mark Levinson. It was proven in a review here http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/list/...7/article.html

7. One thing I like about the Benz is the Key it just has awesome features.
8. I like the smart access "With the revolutionary SmartAccess option, you can lock and unlock your doors, open the trunk, and turn the ignition switch - all without having to take your keys out of your pocket or purse. As soon as the sensors detect the presence of your SmartAccess key, the door unlocks when you touch the handle."
Theres like a little black scanner or heat sensor button u place your finger on and it the unlocks.
9. I like the moving headlights "Meet upcoming road curves in full light with the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS). This ingenious system provides optimal illumination of the road by having the low-beam headlamps pivot right or left in accordance with your car's speed and the direction you're turning."
10. Laser cruise control "This highly advanced available cruise-control system [2] uses laser technology to sense the distance between your vehicle and the one moving in front of it. When the vehicle traveling ahead of you gets closer than the pre-set interval, the system will automatically reduce your vehicle's speed, even applying the brakes if necessary. And when the vehicle ahead changes lanes, the system will automatically return your vehicle to your pre-set speed."
11. Rain-Sensing Wipers "Whether you're caught in drizzle or a downpour, the LS is equipped to handle either with grace. Using a sensor to detect the amount of moisture hitting the windshield, this ingenious system operates the wiper blades accordingly for optimum performance. The blades themselves are even graphite-coated to reduce friction and noise."
12. Backup Camera "Backing out of a tight corner is that much easier with the LS's backup camera [4]--an option featured only with the available Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System [2]. The camera's tiny lens sits virtually unnoticed just above the rear license plate, aiding the driver to see what is behind the vehicle. When the LS is put into reverse, the video camera conveniently displays the image in full color on the dashboard's seven-inch DVD navigation screen. So you can steer clear of any fender-bending objects that might mar the appearance of your LS."

Re: Got a new ride!!

I think our respective reviews tell the difference between german and japanese cars perfectly. Yours goes on and on about features, mine says it's just a great car. When I drive a mercedes, lights don't flash and angels don't sing, but time and again I think to myself "man this is a GREAT car." It's all the little things that you don't even notice until you've had a car for a while. I could give examples, but I won't.

BMWs are even more fun to drive - my next car will be one. Angels do sing with a Porsche but NO-ONE would attempt to compare a lexus to a porsche.

But yes, maintenance can be a bitch.

I just wish I could afford to be comparing Lexus' and Beamers...

I'm hoping that I can get a Mustang next year...

Talking Re: Got a new ride!!

Wow did this open a can of worms! GEEZ!

No, I didn't get it customized. I bought a car for a car. Plus, no matter if I turbo it or not it's just still a Scion. Not to mention all that plastic ground effects, subs, etc adds weight. I may add a rear swaybar and better springs just for a touch better handling. I find it has a bit of understeer.

Benz v/s Lexus, hard to say. Both are awesome automobiles. But again, I agree with the guy stating I wish I had the money to be choosing b/w the two. Without that it's just another internet argument.

Well lol im not even gonna compare any car with a beamer saying that they are one of the most drivable cars available u can take a turn at like 90 and not even notice lol. Same thing with a porche.... Nothing compares to it.

As u probably noticed arguing is a hobby of mine so im just doing this for fun lol. Even though i do agree with what i said, it really makes no difference.

I think you have that backwards though thats why everyone loves mercedes... cuz of all the features. I was just saying that Lexus has all of those. When i went to the car show and sat in the 85 grand Benz i felt like i was sitting in any normal car. When i sat in the 60 grand Lexus I felt like I was in my own little world sitting on a cloud like i could just drive for years without stopping and i would still be comfortable.

Re: Got a new ride!!

After installing multiple phone systems, and K40 laser/radar systems in Mercedes here in ATL I have the utmost respect for them. Before I thought they were just overpriced luzury cars with comfy seats. Boy, was I wrong. These things are incredible. The coachwork (how everything fits together) is amazing. They have powerful engines, incredible suspension and an interior anyone could feel comfortable in.

I have no experience with Lexus so I can not say anything about them.

We install in Porsche, BMW, Mercedes. Soon we hope to have a contract with Lotus as well. Of all these the most well built (feeling wise) is the Mercedes. The BMW's are nice but the maintenance is nuts. the Porsche is built well but nothing fancy. it is for shear performance. Nothing more.
