Not heard anything from Dan for ages but Albert and BFC are still around over at Deadmen.

Sadly the other members gave up when we getting good....oh hang on, that hasn't happend yet....oh and just in case, Dan once told me he was actually an Aussie and admired the Australian way of life, but felt he wasn't good enough to be true so opted for a kiwi pretence....sport, g'day etc.

damn straight. in England they teach us french for 5 years education.

A friend of our family is French and she stayed with us for two summers. This gave her English a pronounced American accent. Years later, when her husband was transferred to a British office for a year, none of her English neighbors believed she was French because they were convinced by her accent that she must be Canadian (well, from Quebec, technically, which I'm not sure actually counts as part of Canada). And she never once said "hoser", eh? :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

BTW, English itself shares roots with German, not Latin. Most of the words that came to us from Latin are because of the French-based Conquest of England in 1066 and the resultant influx of Norman French words into the existing English. Which makes it even more entertaining when the French fight against American encroachments like "le week-end"! Anyway, no wonder English is so inconsistent... what other language is like taking Russian and Japanese and mixing them up for 1000 years?
