This isn't Desert Combat... (war footage)

***WARNING: This isn't too graphic, but it does show wartime death.***

Story here: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/WNT/US/apache_video_040109-1.html

Army officials acknowledged that the 30 mm cannons used by the Apache gunners were far bigger than what was needed to kill the men, but said it is the smallest weapon the Apaches have.

True it is the smallest Apaches have but at same time the soldiers may have had weapons that they could have used.

But at same time "IF" it was a rocket repelled granade launcher then it would have taken that helo down so who is to judge weither it was justified or not. I live by the rule. They were a danger so take them out

I belive they were refering to the pilots in this case, so unless they wanted to land the Apache, go ask them if it was an RPG, then smoke them, my vote would be for the 30mm cannon

Sure it's overkill, but it works.

Woof. Just watched that. I was expecting these guys to just fall over. I knew the gun was big, but the words vaporized come to mind

Would have hated to see that in living colour.

Living color would have been much less dramatic... Most of what you saw was dust and debris flying... If you think about how big the bullets were, and you saw the injured man still crawling, you'll realize that nothing was, in fact, "vaporized".

The infrared camera does make it look mighty impressive, and don't get me wrong, I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that little barrage...

I meant not so much in colour, but as in if you'd been there, like 20 feet away.
