To all:
Bottom line is all you "make love, not war" types get to live the life you are living because of warriors like the ones that took the video that was posted here. You can whine and cry all you want about how looking at pictures of war is scary, but while you whine, remember that there's a soldier out there right now trying to kill the enemy. The enemy that wants to kill YOU...

Chill chief, I was being light.

Irrespective of my views on war/death etc, which I don't believe I've expressed here, ever. I don't think someone is being a 'whining hippiy liberal' or whatever the saying of the week is, asking for a warning about content.

I still don't understand how people here can play games that simulate death all day long, but they need a warning before they see the real thing. That indicates a real psychological problem, IMO. (Whether it's MY problem or theirs is up for debate, I suppose... )

I would debate the position that it would indicate a larger psycological problem if you did not have a problem viewing scenes of real deaths as a result of playing games that simulate death.

I love my FPS games. However clips like this still affect me, mainly because it does involve real human beings, who really were killed. Not fictional characters. Death in that clip is final, and messy. Those Iraqis are not going to respawn, or get healed by a magical medpack from the sky. Dead and gone, to whatever afterlife they belive in.

I don't play FPS games to similate deaths. I view it as beating my oponent. No actual death is involved. That player will respawn, or the case of games like Counterstrike, be right back in the next round. To me this isn't simulating death, mearly providing a conduite for competition, and fun.

Also when it comes to violent video games, I prefer games that have the non-human element. While I found games like Ghost Recon, GTAIII, and Postal 2 to be fun for short periods of time, I quickly tired of the senseless mayhem (in the case of GTAIII or Postal) or the just human oponents. I'll go back to games like Natural Selection time and again, as I'm not killing humans. Or if I am, I'm not playing a human character

I'm not saying it's wrong to be disturbed by death. I'm saying it's wrong to be disturbed by the sight of death, and yet for entertainment, you simulate it for hours at a time...

Death is a fact of life, as is war. Always has been, and it wouldn't surprise me if it always will be...

Perhaps disturbed is too strong a word. I wouldn't say I was disturbed by those video clips. Affected yes, but not disturbed.

I would agree with the request that any posting of information (video, picture, text) that describes or visualizes the deaths of human beings carry a warning, similar to the PG rating. Think of the children!

I'm with Dave on this. I never understood how somebody could play GR for hours or any shooter where you're shooting at another person, yet seeing pictures of people dead "affects" them. I makes me laugh.

Yeah, I agree with this as well... Especially since this is now a corporate run forum...
