Hey, I like fresca too. My wife LOVES Fresca. If you like fresca try Faygo. It's just as good but in a bajillion different flavors (orange being my favorite).

While this isn't a 'product' in the theme of consumables, talking about Faygo has reminded me of my favorite magazine/comic, Knights of the Dinner Table. If you were ever a member of a table-top gaming group (war games/RPG/board games) or are a gaming enthusiast, this is a magazine for you. I cannot recommend it enough.

TiVo is a great choice if you don't want to muck around with building a TiVo clone. You can also add on storage to almost all TiVo boxes using normal EIDE hard drives. I've toyed around with MythTV and I'm just not as impressed with it as I am with my quite aged TiVO. It's a nice concept and all, but it's not exactly supported and it's longevity is still questionable.

I've not found any really high quality SVIDEO in and dual SVIDIO out cards for the PC yet either.

I'll stick with my TiVo, thanks.

Vonage telephone (VoIP) service.

In our area with Comcast broadband the QoS has been superior to Verizon service for 1/6 the price and a ton more features. We've had two brief outages in a year but they were our fault. The included voicemail still catches your calls for you - so, nothing lost.

Also, I haven't seen it recommended elsewhere in this thread, but Tivo. I'm not big on television the way some people are, but being able to record the things you are interested in, with no advertisements, and not being a slave to the time slot, really changes the way you view television.
It was most definitely the Corps that got me to despise water... Boot camp and MCT, specifically.

And I'll jump in on the DVR bandwagon. I got mine through Charter and it allows me to record the only two shows that I'm interested in so that I can watch them at my leisure. Otherwise I would watch less than an hour of TV a week. Now, I watch two hours of TV a week!

Wusthof's are supposedly the gold standard, and have a very liberal lifetime replacement policy, but any decent knife will make kitchen work so much less painful. Unless you slip and cut yourself, that is. These knives are very sharp.
Ah, yes, I have Henckels knives in my kitchen... Which leads into another product that I am absolutely thankful to Allah for: the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Unless sharpening knives is a hobby of yours, you've probably found it difficult to get your knives sharp enough that you would shave your face with it. With this sharpener, as long as you are able to hold the blade in a vertical position while drawing it down the stone, it's just about idiot proof.

I've shaved my face with my Kershaw Blackout (which I also recommend to anyone as a great pocket knife) after sharpening it on the Sharpmaker. It's made out of 440A, but it's still quite nice for the price.

Re: What product would you recommend to anyone?

Nice post Cing - I may need to look into getting one of those. I use my sharpening steel right now, but the Globals can lose their edge after a while. I currently take it to a knife sharpener in town, but your sharpener could be a better financial solution over the long term.

Re: What product would you recommend to anyone?

Patriot, I've never used one of those sharpeners, but I heard that they'll make your knife less dull, but will never actually get them SHARP.

And your second link is dead.

And, to recommend something else knife related, I present what is quite possibly the most popular pocket knife in the world right now (presuming we don't lump the various Victorinox models together!), the Kershaw Leek:

I've linked to the Kershaw section of New Graham knives because there are so many different types of Leeks. Personally, I am drooling over the S30V Leek with G10 scales. S30V steel is considered by many to be the best steel out there for knives now and if you've never felt the grippiness of G10, you're missing out. It's a great update for a fantastic knife. Oh, and New Graham knives is considered by many to be the "newegg" of knife sites... I haven't purchased from them, but it comes highly recommended, I've talked to the owner, and I plan on buying a Kershaw Spec Bump from him soon...

The little bit it lacks in ultimate sharpening - it makes up for in conveinience.

Re: What product would you recommend to anyone?

OMG I just found these recently and I'll never be without one again. I can't tell you how many hours this saves me. I have not had to pay one single DVD rewind fee since I got it. And for those of you with computers, it even comes with a USB port for rewinding your MP3s.

That rewinder thing is the greatest! I'll get a few for my friends since whenever they borrow my DVDs they always return them and they aren't rewound at all so I have to go all the way back to the freaking beginning.

Therefore the 'Don't forget this' statement. It was me then too.. That was the 'What food could you not live without' thread.. or something like that.. chocolate seemed to be the overwhelming favorite.

For any of the ladies out there:
If you're as... blessed as I am in the chest region, you know what a pain it is to find shirts that fit. Today I stumbled upon the glory known as a minimizer. It's a bra that makes your breasts appear smaller and lifts them at the same time.

Best. Invention. Ever.

Re: What product would you recommend to anyone?

I reccomend anyone who likes cars (not just NASCAR or tuned drag vehicles) to check out the manga Initial D. It's a really good and interesting series that deals with downhill racing in Japan. If you're too lazy to read, or you can't stand the idea of having to 'read' racing scenes, there's also an anime but it's accompanied by crappy CG for the races and happy hardcore eurotrance electronic crap.

If this doesn't fit here because it's not for EVERYONE (I was a bit confused by the topic title in that way), just delete it. If it fits, somebody needs to check this out.
