Either post the evidence and quit saying how little this "debate" means to you or drop it. The only thing you're doing right now is polishing up on your Ad Hominems.

Re: No more supersized fries!

...ahem, changing subject....

I lost 18 lbs. and my wife lost 15 in the first three weeks of the South Beach Diet. It's really very common sense. You eat everything, no protein binging or anything like that. Very reasonable if you're looking I highly recommend it.

Definitely no supersized fries however.

i went on that wieght watchers diet. where you can eat any food. but considering its calorie content it has a point.

so chocolate bar 5 points... and you get a set amount of points in a day taking into consideration of your wieght.

it may sound a bit complicate but it isnt. and i lost nearly a stone and a half in 2 months... but you are supposed to exercise with this diet as you should with any... quite a good one... illl check out the south beach thing though.

there are a few reasons cingular. in the end it is up to you. and most people may be ok on the atkins diet. but its a risk i would rather never take until i get the all clear from my own personal GP also who told me the same thing.... "its up to you. but i wouldnt trust the diet till more science was conducted.."

Fatty foods are not dangerous. People that don't watch their food intake are causing problems. Your body needs a certain amout of fat and if it doesn't get it, it will store fat (which is why no fat diets normally don't work). Fatty foods in moderation are no threat to a person's health. Excessive fatty foods is dangerouse, just like excessive alcohol, excessive smoking, excessive salt, excessive.....

6' 150 isnt overwieght!

Hmmm, those articles are definitely enough reason to encourage someone to do some research before starting the diet. None of them provide any evidence that the diet is in any way dangerous, just a bunch of people's opinions. I think you're right to be wary of the diet if you're not willing to learn more about it, though. I do see people here that are just eliminating carbohydrates from their diet and I don't think it's healthy. Let's no confuse this "carb elimination" with actually being the Atkins diet, however...

It's funny how the American Medical Association once published their opinion that the diet was potentially dangerous, but has since lightened up after some clinical research...

In the end, I think that even a diet that is a little bit unhealthy is better than being fat (which is a LOT unhealthy).

well i would have to disagree on the first article... that guy made the diet died fat.

any how i do agree it seems that those articles have been cropped i dont know why... there are only snippits of what the medical association said.... wired... they were longer... maybe they were cropped when they went into the archive... although i doubt that.

to your latter poiint.... i agree being fat is very unhealthy but there are other diets that work and give you a balanced regime... look at wieght watchers.. its eat everything... in moderation baisically... it works very fast aswell if you stick to it.

i dunno i just dont trust a diet if it gets the amoun of bad press this has... these were four about 36 reports...... i found....

Ad Hominem Tu Quoque fallacy.

Just because in his final days he didn't follow his own diet does not mean it doesn't work.
These other articles hit on most doctors cautioning their patients to be careful and take mineral suppliments. With the right information available, I've been able to find nothing dangerous about this diet.

Ignorance on the issue of dieting is the fault of the dieter, not the diet.

The whole idea of him being obese at his death is countered here by his wife. The guy was admitted into the hospital at 195 lbs. 9 days later, he died at 258. Apparently they pumped the guy full of fluids, and he was incredibly bloated from it all.

*shrug*

Re: No more supersized fries!

Well,

On Saturday I ate....

Double Big Mac combo (Supersized) Coke for the drink
Two Cheeseburgers With Bacon
And a six pack of Mcnuggets.

Why?
Because I felt like it.

Did I enjoy it?
Yeah.

Guilty?
Not on your life.

Am I fat?
Not a chance.

5' 11" 180 Lbs

Do I give a ****e about some kid whose parents force fed him with a slingshot of burgers from the time he/she was five years old?

No.

hmmm just a little more about that heart condition that crops up as a result of high colesterol intake.

By maybe 6 pounds. And once again, what exactly is not fallacious about this line of reasoning?
