I think this is actually a great idea. No one needs that much grease in their diet, and if they still really want more, they have to buy another fry.

Well, they are based in a country that allows a parent to cram 6 cheeseburgers a day down their kids throat and then happily help him/her sue the "big bad corporation" because obviously it's their fault that the kid is 400 pounds and for some reason they were too stupid to do basic Caloric math to figure that a cheeseburger is pretty unhealthy.

You just don't understand. Fatty foods are dangerous. Heart disease kills more people than guns in our country. People aren't smart enough to handle supersized fries. Without laws to protect the people, more will die. This is a good move by Ron's Steakhouse.

Natural Selection isn't just a game I play when I should be out socializing with actual people, it's a system where the fittest survive. If you're too stupid to realize that cramming down 8 pounds of french fries is bad for you, maybe this isn't the world for you. Besides, the truely stupid would just buy 2 orders of regular french fries.

It's not up to the government or other people to determine how I live MY life. Eating fatty food, smoking, drinking (and not driving), skateboarding, dirt bike riding, driving a car (while not drunk), climbing trees, breathing the exhuast fumes in rush hour traffic, etc, are all bad for your health and have the ability to kill you.

It's your choice (and right) to do what you want with your life as long as it doesn't harm other people. If you want to die fat and happy, then who has the right to tell you you can't?

Prolonged computer use can lead to health problems. Does that mean the government/3rd parties should regulate a legal adults use of it? I know! I'll sue Valve for making a great game that cost me months of excercise.

FeniX hit the nail on the head. Regulation of things that are individual choice and do no harm to anyone else physically is sheer stupidity. It is like trying to regulate same sex marriages. If two consenting adults want to engage in that activity, who am I to say otherwise. The same thing applies to french fry eating. They and it don't affect me leading my life the way I want to. If the government is willing to remove my right to buy as many french fries as I want in one container, it ceases to become a democracy and becomes a socialistic dictatorship. The absurdity of the government now-a-days is at an all time high. Micromanagement of the citizens is a money wasting, time wasting, resource wasting venture made by people that are control-freaks. A more hands off approach would definitely see better results.

When I go to McDonald's, I always supersize my meal. Why? Because I am a big eater. I also eat a lot of red meat.

Guess what? I am 6' tall weighing in around 150 lbs with a colestoral level of 140 and blood pressure around 120/60. Other than being a bit underweight, I am in great health.

Fatty foods are not dangerous. People that don't watch their food intake are causing problems. Your body needs a certain amout of fat and if it doesn't get it, it will store fat (which is why no fat diets normally don't work). Fatty foods in moderation are no threat to a person's health. Excessive fatty foods is dangerouse, just like excessive alcohol, excessive smoking, excessive salt, excessive.....

The government isn't regulating McDonalds. McDonalds is regulating McDonalds, in response to a national obesity epidemic. Frankly, I think it's perfectly acceptable. If you want more fries, buy another one. What's the big deal?

Easy, people have a huge tendency to place blame as far away from themselves as possible. The current state of the American Civil court agrees with this assumption.

My problem is that a few people here seem to be thinking along the lines of:
1. Fatty Foods = bad
2. Stupid people will gorge themselves, get fat, and die.
Solution: Take away the ability to eat fatty foods.

I would rather be the one to make that choice, not someone else.
