Cant speak much for combat...only been in combat sorties...being 32000 feet in the air is a wonderful thing...

I meant standards in general.

The physical standards are what put the Marines ahead of the other branches. The Marines and the USAF have the same academic and vocational standards. The Navy and Army both offer waivers for non-high school graduates fairly frequently, but even they both still require a GED. USMC and USAF can waive a diploma, but it's rare.

I understand that drug waivers are easier to get in the Army and Navy, too.

I assume he's referring to getting a waiver to be able to enlist while on perscription medication.

No, I mean if you've used illegal drugs (regardless of whether or not you were ever arrested for them) you're ineligible to enlist in the US Armed Forces. Waivers for this are available.

you guys are pretty harsh...i mean i've never served (thought about it) but i would have to say that a guy is willing to get himself shot in the leg to avoid duty probably at least deserves some sort of mental evaluation before he get's the heavy book thrown at him...you vets would know better than me though
