I grow tired of this debate. It really has boiled down to "bush is an idiot/no he's not/yes he is/no he's not...". It really doesn't matter how civilized your language, the two sides will never agree, even agree on the same group of values.

I will say this last thing though, what does that quote really mean? To me it means, yeah, who cares what kind of person he is, who cares what his mental capacity, he has achieved something great (being elected as "leader of the free world"), and has made his momma proud. Sure, they can never take that away from him. Well, bully for him. That doesn't mean that he is a good president, or his policies are good for America. And that doesn't mean that anyone will ever agree with anyone else on this issue.

Oh I see a problem. I see there is a big problem. However, you are getting away from the point. You said if someone thought rich was a problem, stop voting them into office. My point was, we wouldn't get to vote for anyone if we didn't want to vote for the rich, since the poor don't even get to enter the game.

Somewhat off the point, but distantly related, I'm close to not voting at all because I don't like Kerry, I can't stand Bush, and Nader is off the wall. So more than likely, neither of them will get my vote and this is the first time, I'll not vote since I turned 18, 15 years ago.

A local columnist put it this way "party trumps person". In other words, you must, more or less, agree with the basic platforms of either of the parties, or at least some of their issues. And I understand the frustration some people have when they say there is no difference, but there are large differences between donekeys and elephants.

When you vote for a democrat, for example, whether you want them or not, you also get Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Barbra Streisand, John Sweeney of the AFL-CIO, The New York Times editorial board, the ACLU, etc.

I think not voting is a terrible waste of a vote. Obviously you have the right to abstain, but if you remotely agree with one party or the other, voting for them advances the ideals you prefer over the other even if you dislike the person in charge. The party still advances their basic principals.

I am am closer to Republican than I am Democrat especially on financial matters. However, I am closer to Democrat than I am the big R in moral issues and human rights and such. I would normally vote Rep, but Bush scares the hell out of me. I don't like at all what his administration had done with 9/11, Patriot Act and all the other crap that goes with it. However, Kerry scares me worse. I'd just rather not be blamed for either getting into office.

Not sure if it's feasible logisticly, but I like the concept.
As I'm sure you are aware already, the Fair Tax has already been thought out. It just won't happen because it takes away power from the people who crave it. The people who decide to tax you and I, in the first place. It's like free power. It's here. It's available. It won't happen though because of money.
