Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Everyone go see this movie. Seriously.

It might be the best movie I've ever seen. It's hard for me to say right now. It's wierd.

I was wondering if this movie was any good. It looks very artsy...and deep thinking...

Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

A guy finds out his ex-girlfriend has had all memories of him removed. He then decides to have the same procedure done to remove all memories of her. Most of the movie takes place in his memories, while the procedure is being done.

I imagine it would be quite confusing if you didn't understand what was happening or that a particular scene was a memory he was replaying in his head.

Wouldn't that allow her to make all the same mistakes with him all over again?

No, quite the opposite of Punch Drunk Love. Where Punch Drunk Love was repressed, this movie is hysterical and hyper-active. Sort of, I guess. It is, however, a compelling romantic story, like Punch Drunk Love was. But completely different approaches.

Geisha, they address that issue quite directly.

Re: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I should add that typically I don't like movies with gimmicks, visual or otherwise. I find that usually the gimmick tries to hide the fact that a relatively boring movie is actually all that's there. I thought this movie did a great job of using it's gimmick (the story set up and imaginative special effects) to propell an already well-told story.

Ah-hah. Thanks! I will probably wait for the rental stage of viewing, but I'm curious now.

Similar ideas to Vanilla Sky? That was a great movie, even though I don't like Tom Cruise. I can never guess what's going to happen so I love movies with twists in them like this one.
