Re: Friends on the Internet

I love hot pockets too dont get me wrong.

I jsut think you gotta have balance. Maybe more RW life than online life. But it really boils down to whatever you want to do, who gives a rats ass what anyone else thinks. To each their own! You shouldnt be embarassed or concerned about what other people tink of what you do on your own time. If they judge you because you play games, then you dont need them as friends or anything else for that matter.

hey now i slag you off coz i dont like you... but i totally agree with your post up there... it is the right way to look at it.. absolutly man well said..

and it made me think, if a real life buddie were to know.. he wouldnt be a friend if it made him think less of you... because that would mean he didnt know you or was a rats ass impersonator...

so win win gamers tell your friends if you have any you sad ass bunch of nerds....lol

Re: Friends on the Internet

Would anyone say that there is a better commeraderie amongst some games here at TG more than others? If so why? I only really play NS and have only played a dozen games of GR here, and none of the other games.

I thought everyone was very close back in the CS days, but then I was new so it was more of a novelty to see gamers not just shouting "****ing Nub!" at each other all the time.

what might play a role in it is the fact that all these games use voice comms.

other online communities probably don't have that, and it realy is a personalized touch, makes a better connection with people. Hearing inflections or tones in other people's voices beats trying to figure out if someone was joking or not in a forum or chat room.

Gals) my freinds. and panz said, how she did consider us friends but illustrated that there was a kind of stigma to saying that to a non enlightened pubbie.

so i guess what i am getting at here is, is there a stigma, i have never really told anyone that i have mates on the internet, now i didnt think this was a concious decisnt but i am thinking am i subconciously embarressed to say i have mates on the internet. because lets face it, i consider alot of people here as freinds, and i intend to go over seas one day and meet some of them... (when $ isnt so much of an issue) so why cant i say they are matyes, i talk to thm, i do activities with them, we even drink together in a funny way...

just want to get some thoughts here. i have mates who i work with and i know less about them, similarly i have college friends who i would go for a drink with and i have not a clue who they really are..

tell me people what is the stigma

why does it exist

do you tell people you have internet mates.
Alot of ppl look at me strange when I talk about my online "friends" but I can remember not so long ago, before I went back to work and school, when I spent 10 times the amount of time with ya'll and barely ever saw my "real life" friends. So really, how can I say that you ppl arent my "friends".

I know that alot of ppl have gone through some tough times and had it not been for the overwhelming support that they get from the TG members, it would have taken alot longer for them to recover or get over whatever it was that was going bad in their life. The ppl here have always been known to give emotional, psychological, spiritual and even soemtimes financial support to those in need.... and they have done it out of friendship.

There are so many different types of friendship that online should not be ruled out just because you havent met the individual in real life.

Im proud to call some of you my friends... and others, well I just wont go there :P

Re: Friends on the Internet

Well...

Despite I've been away for long time now, I'm still proud that I met those wonderful people here in TG.

So YES I DO HAVE SOME INTERNET FRIENDS I THINK... (NULL rules...)

and I DO TELL ABOUT IT TO EVERYBODY WHO'S INTERESTED.

,.. I will be back here... just need to hang two more weeks....

well even some of my friends, i think are jealous that I have something, they don't. - TG

.... sorry about my spelling...

Re: Friends on the Internet

I saw some pics from the Bash this weekend. The homemade arcade game was aweosme. Tent city looked like fun too. Hopefully there will be another one soon. Looked like loads of fun. Saw some of your pics finally too. Now I have some faces to go with names

And to be on topic. If someone is willing to fly over from the UK for a party you are friends whether you met and hang out on the internet or not
