Good news for the FairTax!

Finally, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has set a timetable to repeal the federal income tax and to pass the FairTax bill (HR 25/S 1493)!

From yesterday's Washington Times: "Long an advocate of a national sales tax, a confident DeLay told a conference of tax lobbyists Wednesday that House Republicans will have hearings and push the issue in 2005 and 2006."

That is good to hear. I know you've been pushing this yourself for some time and I agree with the tax. It might not be perfect but it gets closer than the current system. Hopefully it sees the light of day.

I'm a cynical so-and-so and I have to think they'll either load it with so many horrible riders that it can't pass or they'll pass it without repealing ANYTHING else. On the bright side, the precedent for proposing it might actually get it passed correctly in 30 years. Good work Fair Tax!
