Google taking over the world?

Somebody posted a link to a video that described Google in the future. Kind of a friendly "1984" type of future...

Anyone know what I'm talking about and where I might find that video?

And what is up with Google Base? Homerun, or a flop?

Imagine if Google were to decide to charge $1 per year to use any of their services. Would anyone here decline to pay?

I think this is it. If it's not, then it's still a damn cool movie.

Nah, not an OS, an implant.

Re: Google taking over the world?

Google has actually created an OS but they use it for their own development...im not sure if they would release it to the public...but im sure it would be like linux or a distro of linux......

i would pay to use google...i really would....but since that wont happen for a while im fine with it for free

Yessir, that's the one that I was thinking of... Thanks!

Anyone tried out Google Base? Try searching for "tactical" or, better yet, "teamplay".

This is the first shot across the bow of both Amazon and Ebay...

Oh, yeah. I use their search engine, image search, newsgroup archiving, news story collecting, email, homepage and toolbar. I'd be willing to pay $20 a year for those services, no problem. Do you think they would lose very many users if they required $5 a year? $1 a year? Or is the problem not with the actual cost but with the requirement of a way to pay electronically? Maybe they could team up with an international retail business to accept cash for their service? McDonald's, maybe?

That's quite cool. Can you edit entries after you've made them? The double negatives in the description confused me at first. I read it to say that if you're looking for teamplay, don't come to TG.

Yes, they can be edited. But they're only good for a month...

I thought this movie was hilarious, but only in the "so-bad-it's-funny" sense. It can't even boast a cool soundtrack like that ridiculous Pentagon plane crash conspiracy flash movie. The knowledge of technology present and past is so bad in that flash that I could not take anything they said seriously. I couldn't even watch all of it. I saw it a year ago, and it's still on the net, so I can only assume that just before the end it plays some "I'm looking at gay porn" clip and flashes goatse on your screen and that gives it the continued popularity.

If you don't like this forum post, I can always record myself reading it into some silly flash movie

Re: Google taking over the world?

I didn't see what was so bad about the Googlezon news idea. The narrator intoned that it was superficial, inaccurate and sensational. Like the New York Times isn't? Eh, it's all AP anyway.
