I think Indy is the team in the AFC. Denver I don't think you have much of a shot with Jake Plummer. He has had a good season this year but the playoffs are a different story. (I live in AZ so I know all about Plummer). The Jaguars could sneak in there but without B Leftwich I doudt they will get there. In the NFC I see Seattle as the best with the Giants a close second. My prediction is Colts and Seattle.
If the Broncos don't go, I'd love to see the Steelers do it. I'm a long time fan from the days of the Steel Curtain. Anyway, I hear what you're saying about Plummer and I know his history. He can be inconsistent and stupid at times, but from what they're saying around here, he's changed from his AZ days. They've really worked with him on not trying to make every play. He was so used to playing from behind and trying to make 4th quarter comebacks, that he always made desperation plays. Now, he makes smarter decisions and will actually throw the ball out of bonds instead of throwing into coverage. You could be right about him in the playoffs, but he's improved a lot. We'll see what happens in January. As far as Jax, after their performance against San Fran, no way will they make it through the playoffs. I agree with you about the Colts. I was hoping they'd go undefeated, but alas. The Seattle v. Colts prediction looks really good.

Re: 2005 NFL Season

But Jax is notorious for playing down to its opposition. Solid team but skullcrack is right, they dont have the offense to compete with Indy or cincy. give them another year of maturity and they will be ready.

Personally Id like to see any of these four teams to make it as I am a big fan teams that arent supposed to win.

Cincy, play as them everytime I get madden, always bad. Fun to watch their offense and I am a big fan of INTs and their D gets a ton.

San Diego, Brees was about to be thrown out like tuesday's trash but when he got a chance with a solid team around him he did well. Watching LT and Gates in the SB would be pretty sweet.

The Bears, Defense is sick. For some reason people think low scoring games mean bad games. Good defenses are fun to watch and the bears hit HARD, as Vick.

The Pats. I know they have won 3 of 4 but the amount of injuries this season is unreal. Yea they are in the weakest Division but they still have been running at half power for most of the season. just the thought of another pats vs indy game makes it exciting. Only thing better would be if the colts were undefeated going into the game.

Cincy won't make it if they have to play outside in bad weather. Cincy's passing game is to important. I don't think they are quite ready to go far in the playoffs. Remember this is the first time they have been in the playoffs for a long time. They won't beat Pittsburgh twice in the same season.

Bon jovi haven't produced rock music since slippery when wet. Everything since is commercial crap.

Anyway, can someone explain why you lot call it football? You're talking about rugby football with 45lbs of protective gear.

here's the deal with non-foot football:

Varieties of "football"

Within the spectrum of modern football codes there are several "families", which have diverged from and/or influenced each other in their development. Many of these games have their origins in varieties of football played in England. By the 1850s, the two main families of football in England were the "kicking games", in which the ball was mostly kicked along the ground, and the "running games", in which the ball was mostly carried by players. Some codes combined elements from both families. In 1845, at Rugby School in England, rugby football became the first of the running games to have codified rules. The best-known of the kicking games is soccer, which began with the code devised in 1863 in England, by the Football Association.[1]
"Rugby football" got imported to north-america via Montreal... then i guess it spread through the college system.... later it got tweaked to become what it is today:

Quote:
Between 1880 and 1883, Yale coach Walter Camp devised a number of major changes to the American game — including some major breaks with the rugby tradition — beginning with the reduction of teams from 15 to 11 players, reduction of the field area by almost half, and; the introduction of the scrimmage, in which a player heeled the ball backwards, to begin a game. These were complemented by a more significant innovation: a team had to surrender possession if they did not gain five yards after three downs (successful tackles), a rule introduced to thwart Princeton's and Yale's strategy of controlling the ball without trying to score. Camp also introduced the seven-man offensive line, including a quarterback, two halfbacks, and a fullback, an arrangement which soon became the norm.
here's a good description of American Football if you're interested:

Re: 2005 NFL Season

OK, first Bon Jovi is not classic rock, he's hair-band rock. Eagles are great, but at best could be considered southern rock; way too close to country to be classic rock. Classic rock is Queen, Uriah Heep, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Bad Company, Rush, Scorpions ...

Second, Beatles rock. Modern rock would not be were it is today without them.

Third, although I'd like to see blue and orange in the SB, I agree with drizzid on Plummer and although he's calmed down, I still think he's going to choke in the playoffs. The realist in me agrees with the Colt's/Seattle pick.

Fourth, Our football is better than your football, so be quiet. :P

I love low-scoring defensive games. My favorite one recently was the 12-10 Denver/Baltimore game.

Didn't the Pats have the most starters in the league the last time they won the bowl?

Normal service will now resume Uriah heep chose that name becuase they simply wouldn't have got away with their preferred name, which is also the name that fits them. I'll give you a clue - it still has the word heep in it

Talk about extremes. The beetles suck. Their influence on modern music is that they were the first boy band. OMG I'm so glad they came along..... NOT! Give me talented musicians please.

I think you'll find that all football sucks. I'd rather watch snooker.
