Re: Gun Control

I am a Kung Fu Master.

I need a CCW permit whenever I put my hands in my pockets.

That's pocket pool, dude. While it may scare a lot of people away, there's no license required.

Actually, that's code for "I live in NJ, only police and famous people can get a CCW here."

Re: Gun Control

I carry a S&W 642 in a pocket holster whenever I can (which, currently in my area in Ohio, isn't in too many places).

With the Texas Concealed Handgun License, a person has to pass an extensive background check, have themselves fingerprinted, attend an 8 (yea right, ours was 12) hour class, pass a written exam, and pass a shooting proficiency test. Every four years that person must attend another "shorter" renewal class.

What are cops? People with an understanding of the law with the authority to enforce it.
What am I? A person with an understanding of the law with the authority to protect myself.

I've always had that authority. If I guy came at me with a bat or knife with the intent to harm me: I could kill him with whatever I had available and wouldn't even go to jail if there was sufficient evidence of justifiable homicide.

The only thing that's changed is I can now factor in the use of a handgun into the equation if I deem it fit.

Further, handguns have a bad rap (especially in countries like the UK). I recommend you read both articles in my sig.

permits

Re: Gun Control

I think the only Unrestricted Carry states (meaning you don't have to have a permit to carry) are currently Vermont and Alaska, although Alaska will issue a permit for reciprocity in other states.

Ohio's process to obtain a CCW is very similar to that of Texas.

A good website for CCW info is Packing.org.

Re: Gun Control

Hmm...I didn't even know that you could carry concealed weapons in MA. I knew you could in TX, where I used to live, but here? Boston is like a Police State, I didn't think they'd let civilians carry.

In fact, once I googled shooting ranges + boston, and the nearest hit was in New Hampshire.

I don't really need a weapon, generally, but as I'm getting older/slower/fatter/etc. I am increasingly concerned about my wife's safety, so it's nice to know my options.

Hmmm, that synopsis says that it is illegal to carry a concealed arm the way I read it.

If you want, shoot me a PM and we can talk via email. I'm well versed on MA laws and can discuss anything about them that you would like.

That reminds me.. A few years ago I was having an estimate done for some paintless dent removal due to hail damage my car had taken. The guy before me was in a 3 day old Jaguar having a dent removed from one of his doors. He had stopped by the grocery store on the way home with the car and someone had dinged his door while inside. He said as soon as people stop hitting his car, he'll start talking about gun control
