Anyone catch the new Battlestar Gallactica last nite?

I got home from a concert last night, and lo and behold a new episode of BSG is on my DVR. Did anyone else catch it? It was a great start to the season, and definitely didn't disappoint.

Now if we can just get new episodes of Firefly on Sci-Fi, all will be right in the world.

I watched my first Firefly last night. Great show. Never made it to BSG. Had it all set up to watch and something came up.

The new series starts in the UK next tuesday on Sky one.

Free show at this club Emo's. They've been having free shows all week. Last night was pretty bad overall, except for the 1st band, called Steers. It was a 3 piece noise/grind band, with lots of double kicks and aggro bass and guitar, and climbing of stage fixtures. They made a believer out of me, but the headliner, America is Waiting just plain suuucked.

Back on topic, I need to start downloading BSG asap since the signal quality of the Sci Fi channel is hideous, and I can watch "high def" (read: full screen, at decent quality) episodes on my LCD TV, instead of the double-letterboxed source of Sci Fi.

It's very hard for me to watch Galactica and then watch anything with "Stargate" in the title. The difference in quality and depth is just mindblowing. Yet BSG has this red-headed stepchild quality to it during the off-season - nothing but SG over and over and over again.

I saw the pilot for the new BSG and thought it was pretty crap. I'm not a fan of remakes, and this is a prime example of why.

From what I saw of oldschool BSG it was really badass, if the new one is a GOOD remake then I might try and catch it some time a long time from now.

Don't judge the new one by the pilot. The depth of the characters goes way beyond what the pilot would indicate. It's hardly a re-make of the original, though. The original was a star wars knockoff, released soon after the original Ep IV came out. This one uses the same premise (man-made robots turned religious fundamentalists coming back to destroy us), but that's about it. It's very dark, funny at times, very existential, and never campy like the original.

horrible trying to be trendy crappy camera work, bad acting, horrible timing + alot more

I'm liking BSG, but I'm holding off a week or two before watching the new season. The great thing about PVR's is that one can watch a string of episodes at a time.
