it's all iced-tea to me...
Never heard of sweet tea?? It's homemade tea with sugar (lots usually) heated into it. It's pretty good but it's normally too sweet for me so I made the switch to unsweetened...and that's NOT popular around Tennessee

9 times out of 10 if you order "tea" in a restaurant in the south and don't specify if you want it sweet or not, you'll get it sweetened.

Re: Beverage with meal?

Y'all are strange about your tea

Tea is made in a pot, served piping hot with, optionally, milk and sugar.

I realize it's hot and humid in Atlanta but there's a big freakin' Coke factory there for a reason.

Re: Beverage with meal?

right, there's TEA - which is hot... when you order it, they'll bring you some milk, sugar and/or honey on the side..

"iced tea" is by default the sweet, comes-in-a-bottle stuff. if they have both, the waitress'll ask "sweetened or unsweetened". If they've only got unsweetened, they respond "it's unsweetened, is that ok?"...

Re: Beverage with meal?

We call it tea in the North of England. Dinner is otherwise known as lunch, and supper is a snack eaten shortly before bed, possibly with milk. I drink water with tea, and tea with lunch, unless I am eating Fish and Chips in which case I have tea with tea. If it is a Friday (or I have some other excuse) I might have beer with tea but never a light beer as that is a SIN. I always drink a coffee after tea, but I don't drink it with breakfast. Clear?

Re: Beverage with meal?

I voted water, since that's what I have with a meal at home (usually Diet Coke when eating out), but I usually follow dinner with a cup of black tea.

Re: Beverage with meal?

I drink milk and I call it "milk".

OH oh you mean what do I call the MEAL. Dinner, although supper and dinner are completely interchangable in our house, I think I use dinner more.

And if the meal is at a restaurant, I usually have beer with it. (and call it beer)

Yes, but I see that Priest drinks green tea, and hence the distinction. Although I like green tea as well.

I usually drink my tea clear, although I have been known to add milk and sugar to crap like Liptons, which is all we have at work.

Oh, yeah, while we are at it:

Good coffee (The stuff I make)=black, no sugar.
Crap coffee (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts)=milk or cream, tons of sugar.

Well, really good coffee, I don't want to have anything in it. I like the taste, and each variety is slightly different. My current faves are all dark roasts, and mainly Latin American beans. But if I don't have time, I go past DD on the way to work. Have you ever tried to drink that black?

haha! yeah, s'not good! But, like cheap booze, it's got a job to do and it has nothing to do with taste.

Re: Beverage with meal?

Breakfast, lunch, then dinner (milk at breakfast only), and a bit of wine or beer with dinner to keep the arteries flowing :-) Next poll should be cocktail of choice...
