Re: Mexican Army Smuggling Pot into TX?

Do you really watch Fox News? I often wonder how many people who hate it so much actually watch it anywhere besides the clips that the Daily Show might decide to show. I watch Fox, read the NY TImes, the WSJ, and the local paper (ugh). I used to watch CNN and still catch it about weekly.

IMO Fox ain't bad. They basically present the same news as everyone else. The commentary and focus is definitely less left-leaning than some other outlets, but for many of us that's a refreshing shift back to the middle. It's kinda fun to see how Fox is kicking the crap out of its competition, too. Sorta like the elections, ba-zing!

It's nice to finally have a news channel dedicated to the republican party. Rupert Murdock really had a crush on reagan, I guess he just wants to show all of us his passion. It'll be great when he buys up all the independent radio and news stations as well. Then we can all enjoy.

I am a conservative and I don't hope for this. I hope for the day when news is spread based on fact and not opinion or political bent. And this includes conservative news. Tell me the facts and let me make up my own mind.

So do we: John Hancock. The guy with the big, fancy sig on the Declaration of Independence. He was a rum runner and his smuggling financed the Boston resistance.

The policy for dealing with this should involve either an airstrike or Chuck Norris.

I agree. I was hoping Cing might address that question too.

Policy is to ignore it. Border Patrol Agents deal with this all the time, and they're incensed, but once you get above their supervisors, everyone's just concerned about covering their ass and not starting an international incident. Managers are the best!

Re: Mexican Army Smuggling Pot into TX?

Everyone knows that Hippy's WITH jobs buy our good Canadian pot....

Did you know they found a smaller tunnel between the US and Canada last year as well?

That one I never understood because IIRC there may still be unmanned border crossings out west. You just drive past a US customs booth that may or may not have someone in it to look at your ID.

This has probably all changed since "Homeland Security" came about.

Yes, our Northern border is pretty loose. Not only are some ports of entry not manned 24/7, but the border between the POEs is rarely patrolled by anyone. Having a tunnel is more of a guarantee that you can move your dope across the tunnel without attracting attention, though.

Re: Mexican Army Smuggling Pot into TX?

So Cing are you saying that if border patrol agents or other relevant (and armed) agents tasked with curbing the flow of illegal drugs over our southern border happen to look up and see a mini-convoy of Mexican vehicles with .50s the policy is to ignore it? No radio or phone calls made, no action taken to halt or monitor their actions? Is a report filed?

I'm honestly trying to understand the actions that are and are not taken in this situation.

The Border Patrol Agent on the line sure isn't going to ignore it! I mean our country ignores it. I'm sure that a message gets sent up the chain of command to Washington DC, and I'm not sure what happens from there, but if you think this is something new, then obviously next to nothing is being done about it...

Re: Mexican Army Smuggling Pot into TX?

Our country *has* ignored it. I think a lot of people are interesting in changing that.

Are we talking about 200 yard incursions or are you aware of stories of deeper - as in nobody involved could have been under any illusion about which side of the border they were - incursions into US territory?
