The day after tomorrow..

Is there anybody who is remotely interested in going to see this movie? Besides the fact that it looks completely stupid and the plot is going to be horrible (all of these "what if so and so happened" movies always suck). Is anybody interested in seeing it?

Re: The day after tomorrow..

all movies are "what if so happend" Just some try to make it realistic and some dont.

It all depends on the quality of the computer animation.

Re: The day after tomorrow..

I plan on seeing it... but I was a little disappointed to hear that the director/producer didn't research the science behind the events too well. I've read several articles where scientists say some of the catastrophic events could never happen... at least the way portrayed in the movie.

I don't mind "end of everything" movies, if there is at least some effort to portray what "could" happen, even if it's a one in a million shot.

"Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine, regardless of the level of advantage, if any, it gives over the opposing team." -- Tactical Gamer Primer

Thumbs down Re: The day after tomorrow..

I think it is going to be a rip off of Armagedon and like no other movie, I beat that the world will be destroyed just because no one has ever done that for a new reaction of movie goers.

Do people REALLY go to see movies based on this? Does no one consider the quality of the acting, direction, camera work or screenplay anymore?

I saw Van Helsing the other day. It had the best animation I have ever seen and was also the worst movie I have ever seen. It was so bad it was hillarious.

Re: The day after tomorrow..

well i think it has to have both.... if you are going to take on the task of special effects, then you have to do it right and combine it with great acting and screen play.

otherwise dont bother because i am not going to watch it. the matrix is a great example of what to do... great film, bit shaky in the casting of surfer boy to play neo, but it works... great animations aswell.

Well if you saw the greatest acting role ever seen and their special effects where equal to looney toons, would that still be a good movie?

Im not putting down The Toons cause I grew up on them and still get a kick out of that stuff.

Any acting Mediocre is fine for me. I find that I am very impressed with some of the movies that critics call crap and it goes the other way aswell. IE "The Piano"

Well, a single actor's role does not make the movie. But I think you're asking if special effects can ruin a movie by themselves. I don't think so. If the story, casting and performances are good, nobody cares about special effects.
