Re: Climate Change, NASA, and the Bush Admin

The entire graph is below zero. Snow always falls on cloudy days. We don't disagree on those points.

Edit: it occured to me that you may be looking at a Fahrenheit version of the same graph, and I don't know off the top of my head where the Fahrenheit zero lies on the Celsius scale. But the point is somewhat moot anyway - the warmer days are the snowier days.

But the warmer days (characterized here by those days being above the white line in the centre; Feb 9-15) in the graph have 3 out of 7 snowy days, whereas the colder days (those days that are below the white line; Feb 2-7) have 0 out of 6 days which are snowy. For clarity, I chose not to count Feb 8th in either category, because it is almost exactly on the line.

Principles of good Sandbox Etiquette:
Assume good faith - Be polite, please! - Work toward agreement. - Argue facts, not personalities. - Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. - Be civil. - Be prepared to apologize. In animated discussions, we often say things we later wish we hadn't. Say so. - Forgive and forget. - Recognize your own biases and keep them in check. - Give praise when due.

You have enough cloudy days on there without snow to show that snow does not always fall on cloudy days. Average temperature is different from place to place. So the below average temperature is -22 to -36, are you claiming that your less likely to have snow fall at that temperature because it's below average where your at? That's just silly. I didn't misunderstand the temperature gauge either as it's still below freezing in Farenheit or Celsius.

ha...my bad. "It is always cloudy on days when snow falls" is what I meant to say.

I'm saying that the colder days tend to be not snowy, and warmer days tend to be snowy. And this claim is not silly.

I think it is due to humidity. Warmer air can hold more humidity therefore more likely for precipitation.

Maybe - as I said, I'm not a meteorologist. That said, the really cold days are very dry also.

I think there are a lot of factors, humidity being one. Being above or below average temperature in an area is a poor factor in my opinion. I have heavier snowfall where I am at than Diceman inspite of having less time below freezing. It's certainly not due to our winters being warmer then Yellowknife's either.

For the record, this is not my position. I'm not discussing global warming here. I'm saying - and have been saying - that snowy days indicate warmer days.

Regarding there being many factors, and that these factors make the picture complex, I agree with you.
