I don't think so at all. I'm telling you from personal experience that those hooded men do not behave like your average middle-easterner. That could be because they're worldly arabs. It could be because they're imported terrorists. It could be because they're not even the same type of terrorists that we're trying destroy right now. It could be because of any number of things. All I'm saying is that there is something wrong about that video and most people's perception of what they saw happen in that video.

Re: Beheading Video

I hope they don't behave like your average middle easterner. If the average middle easterner decapitates people for fun, we're wasting our time over there.

Re: Beheading Video

It looks as though they might have caught 4 of the people who were involved.

Whatever. You could say that about any group. "There is no average Englishman" "There is no average American" The fact is, there is. And there are certain customs and mannerisms that people throughout the middle east share. Some of these traits are conspicuously absent from that video and traits that you would normally not find in the middle east are present in the video.

If you guys want to accept the video as the media are presenting it, go ahead. I'm merely saying that I don't buy it. It's weird. Too many little things don't match up with the story that's supposed to go along with it.

If I'm reading this right that's actually a good point. 24 hrs after viewing most of that film I'm still shaking at the ideas it represented; while I watched it I was utterly convinced but nearly any movie does that to me... anyway I think I'm agreeing with at least part of Dudeman's statement when I say that this collection of 1's and 0's doesn't matter to me anymore in the context of the war (nightmares notwithstanding).

I do believe that Nick Berg was beheaded by a group that wants to punish the Americans and scare the Coalition. I don't believe Nick Berg was murdered by the US government in some kind of cover-up. That's about all I'm certain of (and that doesn't mean I'm right, just firm in my belief). The only way that collection of digital information really matters is its affect on other people, because it doesn't tell us anything new if it's 100% true, and it doesn't tell us anything conclusive if it's false.

Re: Beheading Video

Well, even the medical experts are seeing the same things we are...

Because Iraq's radical Islamists speak in a particular manner, and live by a closely proscribed code, apparent contradictions between these ways and the way Berg's captors appeared has generated speculation. Some observers have speculated on the possibility that the individuals weren't native Arabic speakers. Conversely, it is reported that in Saudi Arabia, where Sharia law allows for beheadings in cases of severe crimes, the condemned is heavily drugged with tranquilizers prior to the execution, reportedly leaving them in a state similar to that which Berg appeared in during parts of the video.

Acutally I think it's an Awesome display of how far a human being can and will go to prove a point.
