Sometimes I wonder how Humans have existed so long with such disgust for one another. The idea that one person is greater than the other, and that they believe they have the right to take another human life, is so incredibly primative... And beheading someone to get back at an unrelated group, is childish.
Call me crazy, but I DO believe we should limit showing this video through the media. (No issue with a link via TG, just with the video being passed around in general). If I were this boy's mother, I would be outraged that my son's horrific death was being rebroadcast all over the place. Can you imagine the pain this must be causing his family, to know that everyone they bump into has likely seen the decapitation of their child?

When it comes to broadcasting stuff like this, I'm not always sure what to think. At a minimum, the family should have a time to mourn before the video is shown all over the place. If I was a family member it would be really hard for me to keep hearing and seeing it. At the same time, I would want everyone to know the horrific events that take place outside of our nice little world.

Then I have to think about how that video would affect those who see it. There was already a comment (in jest), but it wasn't all too funny. After Sept 11th, I had a few friends from work who had to take personal time off because it wasn't safe for them to leave their house. One actually was stabbed several times with a screw driver and spent over a week in the hospital. I would want this video to cause some outrage in people, but not everyone knows how to handle or direct that outrage.

I think you meant ... you wouldnt want this to cause outrage??

Either way the end of that sentence is the key... You have to know how to handle and or direct the outrage.

Like I said... the video made my stomache turn a little.... His head didnt come off easy like I thought might have happened. Then I remembered I know no fewer than ??? 10 guys in Iraq fighting right now.

My thought's moved to playing GR COOP, going to bed, kissing my daughters goodbye this morning and going to work. I'm mad , but there's not a whole hell of a lot I can do about it anymore..
War's a young man's game... If I was in my early 20's I'd be in South Boston with my right hand raised.... Those days are gone....

Re: Beheading Video

I agree that it is necessary to burst all of us out of our bubbles so that we can better understand what is going on elsewhere in the world. That being said, it is one thing to discuss it and another thing entirely to be passing around videos of someone's child being murdered. It is still ANOTHER thing to have the parents need to grieve in public while those who are not personally affected can casually say "his head didn't come off as easy as I thought might have happened" (no offense intended) and go on with their day.

Out of respect to the privacy of the family, I really wish the public would realize that just because the video is out there doesn't mean it should be available to everyone and their sister.

Re: Beheading Video

Agreed - does it need a graphic representation to bring the message home or is it peoples morbid curiosity here that is being satisfied?

no way i will disagree in the most with this and i am going to PM apophis right this second, i have seen a video of a russian soldier having his throat cut by some one or other and it is deeply disturbing. i also emplore that links to whom shall get this be done only via email or PM having it in the threat is disgraceful and discusting.

warning someone is not enough, im sorry but if i put up a ling showing a naked woman or scenes of a sexually explicit nature with the warning on them it would still be removed.

dont post this up on the forums, im sorry but it is sick and wrong.

nomatter how bad you think it is it is ten times worse and makes you feel like it for weeks not hours, images like this especially videos make you remember them and take it from experience you do remember it and it does make you feel sick every time you remember it.

I think both are human nature.

Nike's got a pretty good graphic presentation going on .....
But it's morbid how they "MIGHT" have someone in a 3rd world country doing the stitching.. and the curiosity of it all wants you to watch 60 minutes and see what's going on over there.
**just an example there......

Graphics and Curiosity sell the newspaper you bought this morning... And in this day and age, it's all Morbid on the front cover, why??? It's the curiosity of the graphics that sells.

I disagree with your point but I'll PM them to whoever wants to see it (hence keeping out of site for you)

Your points valid , it's different than mine but I respect that.

Re: Beheading Video

I don't want to see it. A radio program opened yesterday with the audio of it....no warning and no explanation. I knew immediately what it was and it was enough to make me pull my car off the road and want to scream.

Animals...no other way to describe it.
