Technically, Turkey is not a Muslim nation.

Re: Riots over a cartoon.

i think the only Muslim country i would ever visit i Kuwait, they absolutely love America and our people. Guess I'm to chicken to visit any other country, that has a bombing or kidnapping every other week. I guess Morocco would not be to bad.

Re: Riots over a cartoon.

I finally figured it out!

Iran's response to the Mohammad cartoon has been an attempt to infuriate the west via their new "Holocaust Cartoon Contest." They think that if they can infuriate us enough, we will see justification for their rage.

But, I asked myself, why the holocaust? Why not cartoons about Bush or any of the myriad of other petentially damaging/polarizing topics (picture Ted Kennedy shaking hands with Ahmadinejad and congradulating him over their shard attitudes with respect to the Bush administration)? Here is a guess.

Muslims BELIEVE that Jews run the west and that we always have; they think we have all of you under our subtle control and that we use you as pawns to wage war against Islam. (Make no mistake, THEY think we are waging war against Islam over there.) This is all part of the "Protocals of the elders of Zion" bs. Anyway, if the Jews were REALLY as powerful as they suppose we are ( and always have been), would we have EVER allowed the Holocaust to happen?

The answer is no. I think this may be their whole reason for denying that it ever did.

What do ya'll think?

Re: Riots over a cartoon.

I disagree. I have a feeling that the topic of the Holocaust was chosen due its internationality, if you will (that may not even be a word). It's pretty much guaranteed to offend, whereas a topic such as "Ted Kennedy shaking hands with Ahmadinejad" wouldn't really cause much stir, except to maybe damage the reputation of the Democrats in America. Personally, I don't think many people outside the US have even heard of the Senior Senator for Massachusetts. I can only thank the Comedy Channel for giving me such a good education on American politics

So now you're annoyed that they're responding in kind to the cartoons published in Denmark? What exactly WOULD you like them to do? According to you, they're wrong if they burn embassies, they're wrong if they publish cartoons, but in the mean time, you're happy to napalm a funeral and kill innocent bystanders. I continue to be more and more confused by your position.

Are you suggesting guilt by association then? Maybe the majority are (fairly) silent out of fear? As far as the UK goes, Muslims *are* starting to speak up. We had a huge *peaceful* rally in London yesterday, protesting against the cartoons *and* the violent, un-Muslim responses that have been seen across the world.

Re: Riots over a cartoon.

Ever since Ataturk, Turkey has built a largely secularly-determined society with very strict controls on worship and doctrine, with a focus on tempering both. There are conflicts and factions, of course, but there is a reason for it's application to the EU.

You could call it a Muslim nation, but don't confuse it with other governments where Islamic Law determines the state policy. In Turkey, the state actually runs the church, and preaches unity, peace, and diversity. There is also a very large Christian population.

I found this article on short notice.

OT : There may be a reason, but there's no justification for it getting EU membership. 90+% of the country is in Asia. The only reason for allowing Turkey to join the EU would be to begin the formation of Eurasia, which is something that I think we should all be scared about.

Re: Riots over a cartoon.

I don't know why I didn't think about this earlier, but these riots make me want this T shirt even more: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/sandbox...ct-tshirt.html

I need to remember to buy this.

And a Tac-G patch.

And one of Gixxer's calendars...

Cartoons on T-Shirts and the response received...

www.shopmetrospy.com has placed the Muhammed Cartoon on a T-Shirt and is selling it on the net. At first, he was receiving very nasty emails, until he started to post them on the net with the email address below.

Here is a link to the response.
