Exactly Jex, couldnt of said it better myself.

I was on an AA plane out of Chicago the night before, I have colleagues who died in the towers, that doesn't make me want to fight for something I don't neccesarily believe in. If anything it makes me more aware of the value of life and how it can be snuffed out in an instant. I guess that's different perceptions, not right or wrong.

yeah and we have not left germany but you dont say nothing about that and germany is now a democray not a dictatorship... i think some people really need to look at history, germany was a dictatorship full of murdering soldiers and a leader who killed people because of etyhnicity...

see any resembelence with sadam...

how anyone cant agree with this war and not the german war is beyond me, sadam killed masses of sheite muslims, because he could tortured people because he could, but oh no they are not worth fighting for.

whatever.

Its kind of hard to argue about a war that took place over 50 years ago.

There was also a big difference between Germany and Iraq. Germany was threatening to take over the entire world, Iraq wasnt. Germany was actually a threat, Iraq wasnt.

The Germans aren't setting off bombs and chopping people's heads off, so nobody cares.

In fact Colin Powell recently came out and said those Mobile chemical labs aren't there - it was faulty intelligence. So there's another lie put down to faulty intelligence. Add to that the 'supposed terrorist connection', the 'plutonium from Niger lie' and you start to see the propoganda machine tripping over itself and how little a threat Iraq actually was.

Re: The Draft's Coming

First off, What the f*ck do the twin towers have to do with Iraq? You people are making this connection for some reason.

Secondly, NOBODY WANTS THE DRAFT. We don't need it. The enlistment rate is high, and our death rate is low enough to be supplimented by reserves and elistees. The military does not want draftees on their front lines. Like I said, this is democratic legislation designed to get Bush out of office. Do you really think the American public would stand for a draft?

Regardless, I am not fighting this war. Long gone are the days where wars were fought with a clear distinction of good and evil. I did not support this war from the beginning, and I will certainly not give my life for it now.

If you're so concerned with "honor" and you support this war 100%, why aren't YOU out there fighting? Suddenly everyone's opinion changes when it's you or your loved ones fighting this war.

Re: The Draft's Coming

I think you're correct that Charlie Rangel and Fritz Hollings (bill sponsors in the House and Senate, both dems) had more politics and less national security on their minds when they introduced this bill.

I do support this war which is precisely why I hauled my (then) 33 year old bones down to the recruiting station in 02 - because I didn't want to put kids like you in harm's way without being willing to do so myself. Frankly, the last person I want setting national policy is an 18-year old, and if we need soldiers then we need soldiers whether you like it or not.

Guess what, you're a man now. Isn't it fun?

Hey man, your preaching to the wrong people. I am enlisted and going to boot camp on Monday to protect people like you who are not willing enough to get out there and fight to make sure that Iraq doesn't have bombs to kill us all. Alot of people gave the ultimate sacrifice to let you live today, you should think about that for a while.

One last thing on your comment. Does it sound like I am regreting what I am doing? HELL NO! I am going in and will be proud to make my dad and mom proud to where my military uniform when I earn it. Soon after, I will join the fight, and that is guarented for the ocupation I am sighned up for. No regrets and no offense my friend.

I'm willing to fight.. for an actual reason other then "oh well you see... we think they have weapons... but we're not really sure... lets just invade them anyway...".
