Re: What...

Commander keen is old school the originals came out on the old 5.5 inch floppies. True floppies at that. Then later versions came out on the 3.5in floppy. It was one of the best games that came in floppy form and was also quite long and hard, I dont remember finishing it.

Dont Diss the Keen.

Cing is right, 5.25.

I remember buying a few games like this a computer swap meet type of things. Sometimes computer shops would sell them too.

It was the first game by id, aka, John Carmac and his bro.

Also, for all you serious geeks out there, Keen was the figure that was hanging in the noose in one of the 3 secret levels of Doom II. (anyone...?)

Sadly, I knew that.

Re: What...

God, 5-1/4 floppies. I remember booting my mom's Apple IIc with those to play Lemonade Stand. I remember my mom trying to decide if she wanted to give up her 2nd 5-1/4 drive in her IBM to try out a "hard drive". I spent hours and hours playing Hunt the Wumpus, Munch Man (reverse pac-man), and Parsec on a TI-99. My family was super-cool because we also had the speech emulator and the connection cables to save BASIC programs on an audio cassette...

Now HSantal needs to come back and say he played games on punch cards.

Yeah, I remember loading games to my Commodore VIC-20 via audio cassette... I think Zork may have been one of them, although I may not have played that game until we upgraded to the C64...

Re: What...

I've looked and looked and just can't seem to find a picture of the IBM punch card reader we used.

There was aslo a biorythym program that ran off of a 12 inch reel of tape that we played with. Used on a Precies <sp> machine used for Geophysical data processing.

Ahh, those were the days....
