No offense when i say this to you or any other religous fans around here but this "end of world theory" is only for religous freaks. I dont think it will happen, I just think it will make my gas price Higher! Not to mention that it is probably a huge scheme like the "Y2K bug" to give money to the church for salvation. No differnce in this either.

You have no idea how much manufacturing is going to China from the US and Canada right now talk about a couple years in the future. Every major company I do work for (~400 companies) either have people in China or are sending people there to figure out how to move some operations there so as not to go broke in the next 5 years.

Communism may or may not fall, but big business is going there as fast as they can. They basically have an unlimited slave labor force they can tap into.

Saw a little program a while ago covering the sales of Ferraris in China (and I don't mean Hong Kong). There are already hundreds of business people driving around in them and other luxury cars. I believe it was the president who did the interview and he was almost laughing as he explained how they can't dump them on the shores quickly enough. Wait until we get a couple of billion more people enjoying semblances of a Western lifestyle. The price of oil is the least of our worries.

It will be very intersesting to see what happens as countries in Asia become a greater economic power, at least collectively, than the U.S. and other Western nations. I know B.C. is shipping barges full of raw logs of all types to China as fast as they can.

Re: gas prices ?

I guess that is true come to realize, but only if someone has the Kahonaz to start a revolution to make a democratic (for a short time ) China. Wait a miniute, if Communist China falls, that wound impact America's and Canada's economy for years. Hmmm, I personally think we should go somwhere else for cheap labor. China I think will eventually end its Communist rain VERY soon, therefore, whould Mexico be the in the lead again?

Re: gas prices ?

Yah, I'd like to hear why communism needs to fall in order for them to want better cars and big screen tv's and all the crap we want. Its human nature to want more for yourself, within "communism" or within a democracy.

Don't forget there's no such thing as true communism, just flavors of corrupted political dictatorships that we label as "communism".

Re: gas prices ?

$1.00 /litre!!
So we roughly pay $2.8123 per gallon, taking in account currency conversion and metrics.

I agree DM, you pay more. However, there is no point in making a comparision of your litre to our gallon though if you don't use what our gallon is worth in litres. That is the point he was trying to make.

That's like talking about how much a cheeseburger is in the US but doing a pound to yen conversion..

I paid $1.89/gal today. That would be somewhere near .27p/L I think.

Wanting won't get them anything if they don't overthrow their government though. They have no electric and work for crap. Those people buying the nice cars over there.. those are the one's who actually own private corporations. And yes, there is privately owned corporations as well as government factories.

The thing that needs to be said is that China has realized where it's power lies. It WANTS to be a manufacturing hub for the world. They are poised to do it. Industrial China is already buying up everything. As I said before, we are having trouble finding vendors for many of our raw products <we make train components for GE and GM>. This is soley because of China's hunger for manufacturing jobs. They are building factories all the time, unheated but running.
