The Good News From Iraq thread

I want to start a thread where people can post good news they hear or read from Iraq. I encourage so-minded TGers to do some googlin' and let us know what you find.

Pretty please, with sugar on top, let's not debate the war here, just pass on info and let the reader be the judge.

A unit is recognized for mastering the art of counterinsurgency and for its treatment of detainees.

Re: The Good News From Iraq thread

It occurs to me that we read plenty about the gang at Abu Ghraib but seldom hear about our heroes, who I consider good news always.

Re: The Good News From Iraq thread

Happynews.com is a good site for finding the positive news that the mainstream media never reports.

http://www.happynews.com/news/382006...rs-in-iraq.htm

http://www.happynews.com/news/324200...pports-you.htm

http://www.happynews.com/news/213200...evelopment.htm

http://www.happynews.com/news/312006...enerations.htm

Dunno about the validity of some of the sources, but it shows that not everything about Iraq is negative.

HI

I dont see how one is going to "let the reader be the judge." when only "good news" are alowed to be posted on this thread and when readers are not alowed to " debate the war here." I do have counter arguments and sources that could counter sevral of these "good news " that have been posted. I ask for permision to post them.

Fourthermore the definiton of "good news" in this case is very different and varies by ones opinon on the war. Can I post them(news that may conflict with yours)?, even tough it might counter your "good news"? would that be "debating the war". If so, only 1 sort of "good news" would be alowed 2 post :the ones that are postive to the illegale invasion. In my opinion,if this is the case, it would cencore good news that may conflict your views on the war. Can you clear that up for me....thank you

my views on the war can be seen here:

btw check out my footnote 2 in my 1st post:

Re: The Good News From Iraq thread

I think that if you'd thought really really hard about how to express yourself while honoring my wishes, you could have maybe tried starting your own thread?

I have in mind for this thread basically a repository of links with little if any comment, similar to the pyp2k thread. In another thread we have had a short discussion about the perception among some that the MSM is doing a poor job of telling the "full" story about what's happening in Iraq, and Steeler challenged me to find him a story of good news. Turns out that actually is difficult and time consuming, but with a little patience and effort the stories start popping up.

I'm hoping to leverage my effort and others' to make seeing the "full" story a little easier for people who wish to read such stories. If that is propaganda, silly, stupid of me, or simply inaccurate in your opinion, then I encourage you simply to move on.

Tchecka....Tchooka....some other dude started a bad news thread. Post yourself silly there if you feel the need to repeat stories that depress and demean the work that's been done in Iraq.

No it was not. I asked for 1. to post arguments, . 2. to post good(not bad) news about iraq that may conflict with leejos view on the war. For example if the one labour movment had a peaceful demonstration against the strict anti labour union laws that are still in place and supported by the Government.(same laws from the Saddam regime) That would be good news, but it does criticize the current government. I cant see how that is bad news.

I will in respect of your wishes leejo and do not post comments nor arguments, only links of good news . But please do not say " Post yourself silly there if you feel the need to repeat stories that depress and demean the work that's been done in Iraq." for It is simply wrong. I could use the same argument about your statmenents (the variable is one's view on the war) but I will not do that, because I respect your wishes, so please do not encourage debate if you don’t want to see one.

Wow, I've never been a huge fan of Bruce Willis but I'm now inclined to buy every movie he's ever made.

Read and you'll know why.

Michael Yon tells the compelling story of the Four Deuce in Mosul his site. It's something else.
