Re: LA Gang Wars

I saw a program on LA the other night. They were talking about the police chief who reduced crime in New York and how they brought him over to LA to get the killing down. However, NY has 40,000 cops were as LA has only 9,000. He went to the local government and asked for a 3% increase in officers and was refused.

The officers on the street openly admitted that they stopped youths for anything they could think of. They'd take pictures of them, their tattoos and find out which gangs they belonged to. Over 10,000 gang members exist in LA and their seems to be a fine line between how far the police can push before the gangs start shooting at them.

Drive-by shootings seemed fairly common place and the area of fire indiscriminate to the victims. The police raided one place and shortly after that, whilst the police were still at the scene (and camera crew) some women got stabbed. The reason being because someone thought that it was the woman that informed the police for the raid.

It seems clear from the documentary that without more cops, LA will remain one of the most violent cities in the US and South West LA is a place you don't want to be. It is rife with unemployment and drug sales seem to be the main source of income. It seems to be in its own self-perpetuating circumstance and nobody seems to give a damn.

Re: LA Gang Wars

i think this could be sorted in one very dramatic way, bring the army in, lock down all roads leadin in and out of the city and go in and do a house by house clear out like the germans did in occupied poland.

then round up anyone with a gang tattoo and put them into a correctional facility. then relocate themn around the country....

but that is extreme,

but the point comes where the 9000 police ifficers have to say... is this a lost battle... i am not going to put my neck on the line any more...

as soon as the police discreetly say this to the governemnt above the heads of local governemnt you will see results.

Too bad that pesky Constitution keeps this from happening.

The problem with Los Angeles is that it's filled with spineless liberals that aren't willing to do what needs to be done to change things. The sheer size of LA (and San Francisco), combined with the liberal weakness is ruining California.

True that. When I went to visit, it was awsome. Canada just sucks. I'm sorry but it is just toast without the butter.

And then again, as soon as LA is clean again (if it ever was), my butt would be sent out to the MIDDLE EAST THEN! Any way I lose. Lol

More cops and less corrupt cops in the answer. Military action isnt, unless they want to loan LA some MPs for a year or so. Even then you are right, they shoot back in LA. And after all the guns that got stolen in the riots and looting after Rodney King, I wouldnt want to get into a gun fight in LA with any gangs.

San Diego >*
