Re: At what resolution do you run your desktop?

Once I get my computer hooked up to my 60 inch widescreen HDTV, I will be running it at some big resolution, I just don't know what.

Re: At what resolution do you run your desktop?

I like mine at 1280 x 1024, but my parental units like their profile at 1024 x 768. Is there anyway to set up XP so that i can have my own resolution and another profile can have a different resolution? Right now, everytime i log off, i have to switch back to 1024 x 768 and its kind of annoying.

Re: At what resolution do you run your desktop?

Why are so many people using 1280x1024? It's a different proportion than 800x600, 1024x768, 1600x1200, etc... It's going to make most desktop wallpapers and many games looked distorted...

It's the native resolution of most LCDs, right?

I don't know... I didn't realize that LCDs were shaped differently (proportionally)...

Seriously, I've looked all over for a way to do this and I haven't found it.

Cingular, you obviously haven't ever used an LCD at 1280x1024 before It doesn't mess up games or wallpapers at all; in fact, most games can be run at that resolution and most wallpapers can be found that large. Even when playing at 800x600 or something on my LCD the game still looks fine.

Wow you guys really dont know resolutions huh? How are you saying 1024x768 is different shaped than 1280x1024? 1024+256=1280 and 768+256=1024.

Re: At what resolution do you run your desktop?

I think that my LCD doesn't support up to 1280x1024. I can't wait for my X1900 XTX.....

Re: At what resolution do you run your desktop?

Yes, native resolution on 17" and 19" LCD monitors is 1280x1024. Dunno why they chose that, and why they didn't increase the resolution on 19" screens.. I run my desktop at 1600x1200, and most games at 1024x768.. Takes a better video card than I have to get decent performance at 1600x1200 in games.
