I really don't care, but I want to put this in perspective... When was the last time you said "I'll miss John Adams as President"? That's personal and implies that you "experience" it. You can't miss something you never had. You can only long for it.

That was my point. It's hard to "miss" someone as President that was elected 3 years before you were born. :-)

Hoover is responsible for Las Vegas, now is that a good thing? You decide.

James K. Polk did nothing? Have you not listened to They Might Be Giants? He was a great man!

Lyrics, for your viewing pleasure:

In 1844, the Democrats were split
The three nominees for the presidential candidate
Were Martin Van Buren, a former president and an abolitionist
James Buchanan, a moderate
Louis Cass, a general and expansionist
From Nashville came a dark horse riding up
He was James K. Polk, Napoleon of the Stump

Austere, severe, he held few people dear
His oratory filled his foes with fear
The factions soon agreed
He's just the man we need
To bring about victory
Fulfill our manifest destiny
And annex the land the Mexicans command
And when the vote was cast the winner was
Mister James K. Polk, Napoleon of the Stump

In four short years he met his every goal
He seized the whole southwest from Mexico
Made sure the tarriffs fell
And made the English sell the Oregon territory
He built an independent treasury
Having done all this he sought no second term
But precious few have mourned the passing of
Mister James K. Polk, our eleventh president
Young Hickory, Napoleon of the Stump

by all means r.i.p.... fighting alzhiemers alone is enough to deserve that, but do not grant sainthood just because he passed on.

Re: President Ronald Reagan - Dead

I am only "anti-reagan" on two points... maybe three.

1) the national debt. before reagan came to office, the national debt was 87 billion. at the end of his term, it was 290 billion.

2) the iran-contra affair. another example of a president ignoring the un and congress and doing what they want to do anyway. (my biggest problem with bush..... had he just gone through the right channels to do what needed to be done......)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran-Contra_Affair

3) nuclear war. we were at defcon 2 once and defcon 3 twice while reagan was in office. defcon 2 has only been seen 2 times. the other time was the cuban missle crisis.

other than that, I like the guy. Im not saying to hang the guy on display as a war criminal, just to see the whole picture, not just the good points. he screwed up on some important issues. no one wants to bring those up, even though they have had lasting consequences....

the debt is over 7 trillion..... http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
a FAR cry from 87 billion.... heck, we increse the debt in 60 days the entire amount it was in 81. this is due to 16 years of overspending..... regardless of the evil that was clinton, he balanced the budget..... reagan and the bush brothers did this to the country.

but far be it for me to say anything against the popular concensus. heaven forbid someone have a hint of dissention. sorry for speaking my mind... you guys can kiss my butt.

People seem to forget that Congress has to approve the budget that is submitted each fiscal year. If the Democratic controlled Congress had not passed the budget, the deficit would not have balloon so much......

But it is easier to blame one guy than the entire government, especially when you don't agree with some of his policies.

Which is opposite of UN's policy of doing absolutely nothing other than issueing "strong" words against those that were holding Americans hostaged.

When Reagan was shot, the increase in Defcon status was not because of Reagan but because of confusion among his staff. The Secretary of State issued a statement to the press that he was in charge since Reagan was out (which was incorrect, power transfer's to VP Bush at that point). I don't think you can blame Reagan for the increase in Defcon when it wasn't his fault.....
