Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!

![]() I should have rephrased that post, I didn't mean to say that the marchers don't LOOK like migrant farm workers therefore they can't be illegals. I was commenting on the organization and support of the protests and the people that I saw interviewed on TV. I saw a lot of political and legal immigrant support. Why are they having this protest today on a world wide Socialist holiday rather than this Friday which is a much more popular Mexican holiday in the US (It's hardly recognized in Mexico). Because International ANSWER is a huge organizing force behind this protest. In fact, many immigrant groups are against this boycott because of that very reason. I find it ironic that the socialist/communistic groups that support the very oppression many immigrants left to come to the US are now commandeering their cause. Link Some local activists predicted that thousands of Washington area immigrants would participate in a national economic boycott today, but immigrant groups who have spoken out against the boycott said they fear that the immigration reform movement is being commandeered to promote political causes beyond immigration. Some local Latino leaders said they worry about being associated with a Los Angeles-based group, Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER), that has been active in promotion of the boycott. They said they fear that the group's broad-based opposition to Bush administration policies could hinder attempts to win allies for immigration reform on Capitol Hill.

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
FYI, I had dinner in a fantastic little Mexican restaurant yesterday. It's run by a guy that came here 4 years ago as a Permanent Resident with his family. The food was excellent (enchiladas de pollo con crema y tacos de lengua) and I was proud to give my money to someone that came to the US the right way.
Oh, and Squid: Why are the far left groups supporting this? It's for the votes, man. Maybe not this election or the next, but eventually they're hoping to get all these new votes. Just like President Clinton's push to naturalize so many back in 1996 when fraud was so rampant.
