A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
http://cbs11tv.com/topstories/local_...097175602.html
If it's successful, and talking to many people, it sounds like it just might be, this could be VERY interesting... And if you haven't seen the film, it's excellent. Humorous, and yet so serious. I highly recommend it: A Day Without A Mexican

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
Well, tomorrow's the big nationwide illegal alien boycott, and here's how a Border Patrol union is responding:

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
I've seen pictures from the previous protests and honestly I don't believe the protestors are the actual illegals. I don't believe all that many illegal aliens will want to lose a days pay and risk showing their face on national tv, it just doesn't make sense to me.
I know they really don't have much to lose, but I'm not sure they know that. I think the majority of the outcry and organizing is coming from political groups not a grass roots uproar from illegals. I predict the crowds will be full of the usual suspects; international answer, wwp, and lots of legal hispanics, but very little economic impact.

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
Hopefully this means a slow day at work for me tomorrow.
Seems to me that these protestors are shooting themselves in the proverbial foot if they're trying to pick up sympathizers to their cause. |

Many schools, and even the State Govt of CA is advocating a walk out. There may be some repercussions in States that still have some sanity, but not much.

Honestly, I don't see this having the intended effect. I think the people organizing and participating in this are, frankly, stupid. What's worse is that I saw one of the "big" organizers on CNN today saying, and I quote, "Slavery has got to end." Excuse me? Slavery? I sure hope that pisses off some people like it did me. I would like to think that idiot will be getting lots of phone calls and letters from angry blacks descended from real slaves. There's lots of stuff about this whole thing that annoys me; what's really annoying is that I know I'm going to have to deal with it when I walk around campus tomorrow to do my work. At least I'll be able to get a rough count of the causeheads on campus.

Re: A REAL Day Without a Mexican!
Suppose a citizen didn't pay taxes. Or went injured to a hospital. Would he get worse treatment than an illegal? IOW, why should any of us pay taxes or insurance when it's apparently so easy to go without? Is our risk higher than that of illegals?

Now flip that to a middle class white male. Try and get any help for anything and see how "fun" that can be. Try and get finicial aid so you can finish school, good luck. They just had some guy who was a legal immigrant and mexican complaining about what a hassel this is for his business and others in his area. Saying alot of business cant do anything today because people are just using this day to get out of work and some business might loose to much income to be able to recover. Im hungry for taco bell now, thx
