I believe he typically used paperclips to alternately pick locks, hotwire vehicles, or defuse whatever explosive device was threatening to do them in in that particular episode.

Ok, I admit I have never watched McGyver show.

But I know I use paper clips for all kinds of cool stuff. In the Navy I used 12 volt bateries and paper clips to light cigerets. To hold my glasses together. Replace a broken link of chain (took about 10 of them but it got the job done.) As a tiny drill bit. Flags for some table top tank simulations. Branded a guy with one (idiot i think the brand was.) Paper clips and Ohm meter for testing really hard to reach places (remember to deduct the resistance of the paperclip itself or you might end up removing the wrong card.) Temporary fix for a sound powered phone during drills. Picking my teeth. Making a short timers chain. Testing for north (not as good as a needle but will kinda work.) As a temporary nut...

Oh, and holding various papers together.

I usta watch Macgyver every single week with my dad growing up. He would use a paper clip every now and then, but not as much as people say. He usually used a sock and rubber band.

Walken did a very convincing job as U.S. Treasury Secretary William Cleary in Wedding Crashers. I think he is ready to do as good a job playing the U.S. President as any of the recent performers you've had in the role.

Do not mock the paper clip. The paper clip is friend to all, especially desperate sailors.

What was the movie where someone proposes an actor for President and someone else (villain?) laughs derisively? It had to have been made pre-Reagan, but I saw it post-Reagan, maybe in college in the 80's.

I used to love MacGyver until he turned into a gun control nut towards the end of the show's run.
