http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_symbolism

Found after lots of refinement of googling terms and chasing down various references. Another example is "thrip".

"third-person narrative" is sort of like that... "He went to the store" is an example...

It's the passive voice that's being used, I think. But it doesn't describe the technique being used; it only characterizes it.

Principles of good Sandbox Etiquette:
Assume good faith - Be polite, please! - Work toward agreement. - Argue facts, not personalities. - Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. - Be civil. - Be prepared to apologize. In animated discussions, we often say things we later wish we hadn't. Say so. - Forgive and forget. - Recognize your own biases and keep them in check. - Give praise when due.

Treat others as you would have them treat you

Re: That Sandbox Thread Thread

Something I read the other day, and it reminded me of the sandbox thread. I can't bear to bump that thread though (Die, Sandbox Thread. Die.), so I thought I'd post here instead.

If I didn't know that he was talking about the recent branding of the Wii, I could easily see that remark being made about many of our threads here.
