Sort of reassuring, though, to know that we have that much fire control at air force bases. Compared to like, my middle school or something where if you put your glasses down on a table at the wrong angle they'd probably focus the sunlight and cause myself and my classmates to die in a fiery coffin. Of asbestos. When they say fireproof, they mean the only thing doing the burning is you.

That went to a weird place pretty fast.

Its called a Deluge. Once its tripped. Thats it. It can't be shut off. Its designed to purge.

And that most likely was not a test. That was a trip. If it was a test it was done incorrectly as the fines for dumping such a system are enormous as the foam is very hard to clean up and expensive to clean and replace. Normally when you test a system like that you remove the solenoids from the foam tanks so they don't dump like that.

But then again, this is a government facility and they probably could care less about cost to replace and all that junk so they probably dumped it because they can.

http://flyawaysimulation.com/postt13764.html - the file link is broken there, but the last post has a similar theory as yours.

http://www.shaw.af.mil/ShawSpirit/2005/062405/News.pdf - on page 3 of the PDF is a picture of a similar test at Shaw AFB. 12 feet of foam coverring a hanger in 2 minutes.

At least the jets were gone for those tests.. these poor guys weren't so lucky. Maybe these tests aren't quite so rare?

http://www.shaw.af.mil/ShawSpirit/20...ase%20News.pdf - another link from Shaw with a similar picture..
