Well frankly very true. When you put it like that i suppose i have been on very few "dates" its generally a case of, see a bird in a pub or club and one drunken shag leads to another and something may come of that.

i think the traditional sense of dating would probably come after sex... when you are in a relationship you will go out together alone. before that its very drunken mostly.

plus even the most minging bird dont look so bad after 8 pints of stella and 4 tequilas...lol

Maybe that's an over there thing. Over here dating is more of a guy looks good by planning entire evening thus getting laid thing. While not generally the stated intent, it is what the majority of guys I know end up portraying it as in conversation.

I think the majority of the problems over here stem from the focus being on sex rather than a lasting relationship. Or, worse most likely, neither party thinking about it at all. Maybe that's just my corrupted viewpoint though...

oh thats pure crap,

many rrelationships are started in nightclubs, just because we do it different without all the courting and hooplah first does not mean the relationships are any less worthwhile.

and it is total crap to suggest otherwise, is it not sex and the city my ex girlfriends favorite show that depicts a bunch of slags in new york looking to get laid most of the time and not really relationships.

Ok fair enough, it's not all as I may have depicted and of course there are plenty of relationships that take off but I was trying to say was in UK there is much less 'dating' leading up to the relationship.
