Bush Lies...getting old

UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM Friday, June 11, 2004 The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003. The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program. The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared. UNMOVIC acting executive chairman Demetrius Perricos told the council on June 9 that "the only controls at the borders are for the weight of the scrap metal, and to check whether there are any explosive or radioactive materials within the scrap," Middle East Newsline reported. "It's being exported," Perricos said after the briefing. "It's being traded out. And there is a large variety of scrap metal from very new to very old, and slowly, it seems the country is depleted of metal." "The removal of these materials from Iraq raises concerns with regard to proliferation risks," Perricos told the council. Perricos also reported that inspectors found Iraqi WMD and missile components shipped abroad that still contained UN inspection tags. He said the Iraqi facilities were dismantled and sent both to Europe and around the Middle East. at the rate of about 1,000 tons of metal a month. Destionations included Jordan, the Netherlands and Turkey. The Baghdad missile site contained a range of WMD and dual-use components, UN officials said. They included missile components, reactor vessel and fermenters – the latter required for the production of chemical and biological warheads. "It raises the question of what happened to the dual-use equipment, where is it now and what is it being used for," Ewen Buchanan, Perricos's spokesman, said. "You can make all kinds of pharmaceutical and medicinal products with a fermenter. You can also use it to breed anthrax." The UNMOVIC report said Iraqi missiles were dismantled and exported to such countries as Jordan, the Netherlands and Turkey. In the Dutch city of Rotterdam, an SA-2 surface-to-air missile, one of at least 12, was discovered in a junk yard, replete with UN tags. In Jordan, UN inspectors found 20 SA-2 engines as well as components for solid-fuel for missiles. "The problem for us is that we don't know what may have passed through these yards and other yards elsewhere," Buchanan said. "We can't really assess the significance and don't know the full extent of activity that could be going on there or with others of Iraq's neighbors." UN inspectors have assessed that the SA-2 and the short-range Al Samoud surface-to-surface missile were shipped abroad by agents of the Saddam regime. Buchanan said UNMOVIC plans to inspect other sites, including in Turkey. In April, International Atomic Energy Agency director-general Mohammed El Baradei said material from Iraqi nuclear facilities were being smuggled out of the country. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright © 2004 East West Services, Inc. |

Can you please tell me what this article has to do with the title of the thread? I'm clearly missing something here.

You probably won't have to worry about Bush's "lies" being told over and over when he loses the election, unless this one is fixed also which is not beyond the realm of possibilities. There was a really interesting W5 (Impartial Canadian forensic and investigative reporting) the other night about The Bush family, the Saudi oil barons and the Bin Laden family and how their lives are interwoven. They got into how for years the Bin Ladens had very profitable businesses (including an airline) operating in the States, how the Bin Ladens financed George's first stab at business (one that would fail naturally). How U.S. agents handled the guys who would fly planes into the towers, met them at the airport and attended to their every need along with translators, enrolling them in flying schools and arranging for the appropriate paperwork, etc. Bank accounts worldwide full of Saudi protection money at Osama's disposal, in return he ignores the Saudi Royalty he despises and would surely terrorize given the opportunity also, all kinds of great stuff. Some really good interviews with since retired government agents from America and Europe, really bloody interesting. That doesn't even scratch the surface on what this little team found let alone whoever else might be researching the subject. ...but those are probably all just lies. |

Re: Bush Lies...getting old
...and there are probably more people who trust Micheal Moore at this point than your little punk rich kid president. All one can accuse Moore of is being too much of a showman, as for George... Yeah, Moore gets accolades and standing ovations from noteworthy people worldwide for his somewhat guerilla portrayal of what just might be fact to a degree and he's simply a liar and a grandstander in some of your views.
Like I've said before, you go on living in your comfortable, insular, hypocritic little world and praising the power and the glory. The more I take part in these discussions the more I am astounded at how unwilling some of you are to even entertain information corroborated from more than a few sources or even consider for a moment that the clown you call president and your government could be responsible for anything but devine goodness and George W. might not be the eminent savior sent crusading from on high. Instead dismissing it flippantly with a waive of the hand just like your president when another hummer full of G.I. Joes gets blown-up on the side of the road. "Well, that's the cost of doin' business... now where's my nine iron?" And if you think 'ol George, his family and your government gives a flying f*$& about 100, 1000, 10,000 dead soldiers or truly appreciates their sacrifice well my friends you are truly delusional and befitting victims of terrorist acts. Ignorance truly is bliss. Last edited by DeRanger; 06-12-2004 at 09:18 AM. |

What I meant by the title is that the arguments, like the one presented above, are losing air quickly. Although in my mind they didn't have any to begin with. DeRanger I want you to rephrase your statement about deserving terrorist attacks. There is absolutely no agrument to justify a statement like that. Last edited by USN_Squid; 06-11-2004 at 11:47 PM. |

Re: Bush Lies...getting old
I judge things on Actions and Results.
WMD may or maynot have been real. But eh if an officer says put your hands up cause he thinks you have a gun and you dont, expect consiquences. Saddam was a bad man no doubt and those people deserve better even though they have yet to understand that we are helping them. He was no better than Hitler, although he was much quiter about his actions. Im proud of Bush, he made his word and is going to keep it. That is a true man. Keep your course bud. |

lol...
Wow... all of a sudden, yall are listening to the UN? Convenient? And the report states this is an ongoing problem. So the People in charge (us) are shipping out scrap, without checking it first. Quote:
So now you're saying, that dubya KNEW there were weapons (components?), and folks under his command shipped them out? This "scrap" is being sold all the time, to recoup costs. The article talks about knowledge of the site, but then ignores the scrap moved from it? Quote:
Who is in charge? And deramger, I feel your frustration, but you catch more flies with honey than with vinager. ![]() |

ahhh ha ha ha ... yeah because iraq has a great boarder existing... oh please. how much desert is there to trapes across its almost impossible to cover like 20% and we know that terrorists are comming across the boarder from saudi quite regular, why is it such a shock to see this again? Funny how from the moment the war started there were suspisions this is where the weapons were going. and it isnt news that he had weapons. for the UN weapons inspector chief guy to say yes there are some weapons, granted not on the size estimated but he did find weapons. he said there were some in which iraq needed more time to dismantle. however when the war is over, there are none. not a single one is this not ringing alarm bells. need more time to dismatle what??? there are no weapns remember... why did we not find those weapons sadam needed more time to dismantle and i agree with emanon, sadam is in many respects like Hitler, HItler did kill alot more people granted. but he is a dictator of opression. why does there need to be any more questions and answers than that... |

Here's what I mean: Quote:
I'm not saying the borders themselves are porous, which we all know they are, but the actual scrap metal sales are done at the behest of the US to get money for rebuilding Iraq. And yes, I fully agree, the more that people know, the better. ![]() |
