I just looked it up and it's $325 for the civilian model with two cartridges.

I'll chip in $30 if I get to be Tased first. We just need ten others to go in on this, and have a lottery to see who gets to keep it after we're done playing with it.

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

The only thing I will say in this thread is if anyone who isn't a LEO and says LEO should have done this or that. Put yourself in their shoes and see how you react when you come face to face with your life on an hour by hour basis. I have friends who are LEOs and I have volunteered in the dispatching department of a district here in AZ and let me tell you it's not as easy as it looks and when you realize that you might not be coming home if you make the wrong decision you might be a little quick to use a taser or anything else to preserve your life.

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

I've never been hit in the eyes with Mace, but I had some in my pocket one night when I decided to run from a cop. When he tackled me the top broke off and it spilled all over my inner thigh and other body parts in that region. Of course I was immediately handcuffed and placed in the cruiser so there was no relieving myself and they of course thought it was funny so they left me cuffed until all of the paperwork was filed and I was put in the holding cell: About an hour and a half in all. (Picture Cheech in the straight jacket.)

haha, that's awesome. We are supposed to tell people "Do not rub your eyes!" when we spray them. We use an oil based OC so it doesn't really wash off either, you have to pretty much let it evaporate. Me? I'll let them rub those little fiery particles of joy into their eyes all they want

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

as for ever been zapped with a taser... nope not here... but i have been smacked with a asp batton across the backs of my legs.... not by the police, but that is not very fun.... i had black briusing across my calfs for about 3 weeks, and i could hardly walk the next day....

i also have been CS gassed... in my opinion, although the authorities over here say this is safer than pepper spray.... i dont believe it..... pepper spray stings, (actually sting is probably not the right word.....ouch) but CS gas..... man i couldnt breath, my throat my lungs my chest... i didnt get my breathing back fr a good 25-40 seconds..... which when you are moving around gassping isnt nice.... it was a CS can set off in my school that i got..... so it may be different stuff from what the police use....

in any case, would probably prefer a taser (or the least painful of which) to any of the above... especially the batton.... at least the other two dont keep hurting for the next few weeks....

oh and stupidly enough i got peppered by request... school day prank..... my friend got hold of a can and we all did it just because we were bored....

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

I'm a bit late into the discussion, but the fact that I mostly agree with the likes of Cing and Leejo was too bizarre an opportunity to pass up.

Although it seems somewhat taboo, I will comment on the original thread and its relevance to this one:

There's a special kind of person who gets "Tased" in 99% of cases. They're called stupid or crazy or both. Sure, there may have been instances of people getting unnecessarily Tased, but in any cross-section of stressful scenarios, you will get the occasional mishandled situation.

So explain to me why you would continue talking to your buddy on the phone and refusing to comply after a cop repeatedly yells at you "GET OUT OF THE CAR OR YOU WILL BE TASED". What other outcome could there possibly be other than perhaps ... YOU GET TASED?! It takes a special kind of moron to be belligerent in that situation. Even if you are innocent, you are best served by polite compliance in situations like that. Why would you make yours or your counterpart's life any harder? Just get it over with and be on your way.

One of the key differences between Law Enforcement in the US and say, Australia, is that in the US, you must assume that the suspect could quite easily have a weapon or a firearm. I have never been faced with the choice (not being in Law Enforcement), but if someone starts off aggressive, chances are they will become more aggressive rather than less. Especially if they see that you have no means by which to nullify them.

I'd be very interested to see statistics on people who have been "wrongfully" Tased. I would wager that they are extremely minimal. The number of times a Taser has prevented violence, injury or even death however, I would imagine to be much higher.

Does a pacemaker and a taser work well(according to this page it does, but I'm not convinced)? Any volunteers?

I'd just like to say that I'm happy to be in agreement with people "the likes of" Bommando and Cing.

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

now magnum does that mean you will loose your peice or do you carry the tazor along with your issued gun?. My take on the whole taser thing, if i ever get into a situation where an officer is to either shoot me or taser me, id rather take the hit from the taser. People dont relize what an officer is thinking when its go time. They have had the training and know the best way to handle a situation. I just think to many politions and civil rights groups cloud peoples judgement and fill peoples heads false information.

Taser is "in addition to" the firearm. NO cop would give up his firearm for a taser.

Magnum, can't wait to see the video

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

Don't forget tazer shoots wires out to the subject, if a wire misses, your screwed except for the dry stun capability, but then all the subject has to do is move away because it's not as powerful as the dart shock...

Also, I've seen in surveillance videos in prison yards there learning to put a arm up over there head, that way is they get tazed... when they fall, there arm knocks the wires off, leaving the tazer in-effective... so the tazer is not a end all special tool, just another level of force... that said... studies show officer injuries are down by 80 plus percent due to the lack of hands on now... and subject injuries are down by about 60 percent... they tend to hit there heads on the payment when they get tazed, lol.

It's a nice tool, kinda like Star Trex phaser, lol, but I think cops tend to rely on it to much... I still prefer a knock down drag out arrest, unless I lose. lol

Re: Tasers revisited (video)

I'd seen some of those videos before. The one with the volunteer cops is great, especially the 'group tests' at the end.
