Re: Worst movies ever?

that was the beautiful thing about heinlein's writing. he kept it in reason, yet expanded the scope of technology in a linear fashion. i.e the difference between startship troopers the book and the movie. you're telling me that humans built ships capable of interstellar FTL travel and couldnt develop a more powerful gun than a spruced up version of an m-16? the book had flamethrowers and jetpacks and advanced weaponry. if RAH had lived to see the movie, he would've taken the rights, i guarantee it.

Actually, I liked it because of the crazy fascist angle that pervaded all of the transitions...I like movies that make me laugh a lot, and I thought of Starship Troopers the movie as a kind of comedy, that's all.

Re: Worst movies ever?

Blue Crush and SPy kids 2

So a couple years ago I had to fly to Taiwan for work. The flight was around 21 hours long. I was on this damned airplane forever. They started the inflight movies and I thought "Good movies to pass the time". This is what they played in order: XXX, Blue Crush, Spy Kids 2. By the time spy kids came on I was considering pulling that handle on the door that says "Do not pull this handle".

Re: Worst movies ever?

Wimpinator, I think I have you beat (barely):

In 1990, I used to travel between Los Angeles and Amsterdam. Non-stop was about 14 hours. I took two flights in a week, once: On the way there, they played She-Devil (the Roseanne movie) 3 times in a row...

...and 4 times on the way back.

LOL. A few christmas' ago my brother and I found an old VHS tape in my parents house with "Fern Gully" on it and popped in in the VCR for hoots. About two minutes into the cartoon the taped snowed and came back. Instead of coming back "Fern Gully" it was a 'channel 2' softcore porn.

So in summary, Fern Gully isn't that bad when taped over. But even then, it's still not satisfying

I bet it would be a lot better if you played it in your new purple custom van with your lady.

Re: Worst movies ever?

This list has several movies on it that I enjoyed, and many with which I couldn't agree more. http://www.thestinkers.com/100stinkers.html

I was glad to see that Star Wars Episode 1 made the list. Stupid disappointing waste of time and money. Not the worst ever by a long shot, but bad enough to deserve to be on a list.

Re: Worst movies ever?

I was doing some searching so not to kill any kittens and found this thread. I guess I will add my 2c.

Jersey Girl - Just bad. Like every other movie giving Ben Affleck a lead role.

Pearl Harbor - Completely missed the point.

Star Wars 1-3 - Didn't deliver on the hype or potential. Bad casting too.

You mean 4-6, right? I can't imagine anyone atanding up and actually saying they disliked the originals rather than the new ones.

Worst of all time? Most of the notable ones, such as Starship Troopers, have already been named, but I can throw one more into the mix: High Tension. France has now tacked horror movies onto the list of things they can't do correctly.

I hear they're coming out with a movie adaptation of "Ender's Game". Like Starship Troopers, it's one of my favorite books, and I can only hope they do it justice.
