Re: Worst movies ever?

Succubus - with William Shatner in Esperanto. We used to have a bad movie night and subject ourselves to all kind of horrors. We couldn't even finish this one. The only one we couldn't finish.

Edit: And a quick thing about Starship Troopers. It wasn't supposed to be an adaption of the book at first. A script was writen and then someone pointed out how it was similar to the Heinlen's book. So they rewrote it a bit to cash in on the book.

Anyone have a copy to slide to me in the mail? I might read it if it showed up on my doorstep, but I don't think I would half.com it or anything.... anyone? PM me. Ender's Game was the best book ever and I can't wait to see it as a movie.

Worst movies ever....:
Kill Bill (I know the guys won't agree)
Dracula dead and loving it

and two words to the guys that hated Titanic what. ever.

Edit: Hehe.. just saw the other post about Ender's game. gmta

Dracula: Dead and Loving It is fantasticly stupid. It's no Young Frankenstein, but it's hardly the worst movie EVER

Re: Worst movies ever?

Wow, no one's mentioned Lady in the Water? You'd think it'd be alright with M. Night directing but I think that was the last movie I've seen that I just thought was extremely horrible. I mean most are halfway decent that give you enough entertainment value, but this one was just garbage.

Re: Worst movies ever?

Speaking of Shyamalan, how about The Village?
Gee, lets hide away an entire group of people and convince them its still pre-colonial times. You know, because we can do it somewhere that airplanes never fly over and people never hike through/trespass on. Then we can just make them stay there because they believe theres monsters in the woods! Yay!

Crap, crap, mega crap.

I agree, the book is a classic. I really liked the movie too. It wasn't meant to be a straight up adaptation of the book I think... Its more like an ebil recruitment soap opera set against the backdrop of the war the book portrays. In that context, I think Verhoven pulled it off really well.

Worst of all time? Most of the notable ones, such as Starship Troopers, have already been named, but I can throw one more into the mix: High Tension. France has now tacked horror movies onto the list of things they can't do correctly.

I hear they're coming out with a movie adaptation of "Ender's Game". Like Starship Troopers, it's one of my favorite books, and I can only hope they do it justice.

You got that backwards, he's talking about episode 1-3. Not the first 3 movies put out which are episodes 4-6

Yeah, and the only reason Verhoeven got away with slaughtering ST like that was because Heinlein was dead by the time it came out. His son and his wife both said that if he had seen it, he would have pulled rights and they would have had to scrap it or do it over. Thats what happens when people get movie rights for dead authors great works.

I mean seriously...I Robot? Has anyone ever read it? It's a collection of short stories, not one of which includes any part of the movie's plotline! GARBAGE!

Oh, and Sugar, I just saw a copy of it on amazon for 50 cents. That plus 2 dollars shipping is cheaper than youre gonna get just about anywhere.

Re: Worst movies ever?

Verhoeven was satirizing Starship Troopers and stories like it in his film, as well as the media/information age's spin on racist imperialism. I thought it was rather brilliant and genuinely hilarious, in a uniquely Verhoeven manner. Just as Robocop was a vicious satire of action films and Reagan-era capitalism, so his take on Starship Troopers attacked the sort of gung-ho imperialism espoused by militaristic fiction.

Sugar, this book is absolutely worth buying. And I think that if you liked Ender's Game, this would be right up your alley. If you don't want to buy it, let me know, as I need another copy. I'll buy it from Amazon, have it shipped to you and I'll get it back from you at the next TG TX BBQ/LAN!

I hear in some distant corner of the U.S., they still teach reading comprehension in schools. But that never stops me!

Thats just blasphemy... now I agree Batman Begins was awesome... but Batman was the better movie imo. Look at what Tim Burton had to work with then when he made it... for its time it was great.

now Hudson Hawk on the other hand.... LOL I used to have a top10 book.. nothing but top10 lists for everything you could think of... Hudson Hawk was the top of the list as being the lowest grossing film in the box office... certainly understandable.. that movie was crap.

Re: Worst movies ever?

I have to agree with Gogeta. The original Batman was a very well made movie. It had a touch of realism and still held the comic book agenda. The following movies were cheesy with the neon dayglow everything, gotham city being like 500 stories tall, and the thugs with their faces painted like skulls and crap.
