Yes. There are industrial strength tree killing products in the pellet form that when sprinkled on the soil, will kill most 0-10 yo trees. Farmers and utilities use it for removing trees along fences/power lines. It is not environmentally sound to dump liquid consumer RoundUp around trees nor will it kill them.

What is a hell of a lot of fun though is to fill water baloons with concetrated, industrial plant remover and launch covert attacks on unsuspecting fraternities who may have just made their pledges resod their entire lawn...

Update from 9/10/06

Sunday was a great verbal showdown between myself and Mr. and Mrs. Oblivious. I was on duty Saturday night and didn't get home until 2:45am Sunday morning, and by the time I got to unwind a bit and get to bed, I probably didn't get to sleep until close to 4am. At 7am I was woken up by Marmaduke and his horrendous bark.

The barking went on for about 15 seconds before they shut him up. What they do is tie him up on a dog run in the morning and just leave him there. I started to doze back off sometime later when his barking started up again. I waited and waited for them to stop him, but they didn't. I looked outside and their vehicle was gone. They just tied him up at 7:30am and left him. SUNDAY GOD DAMN MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOME PEOPLE USE THAT AS A DAY TO SLEEP IN, WTF?????????????

Fast forward about 1 hour (he barked the whole time). I'm in the kitchen and look out the window to see them getting out of their vehicle. I don't know what possessed me, but I went right out the door and over to their house. I'm sure I had an expression on my face that let them know I wasn't coming over to wish them "good morning". I explained (calmly and respectfully, I might add) that the dog woke me up early. I added "I work as a police officer on Friday and Saturday nights, I usually don't get home until close to 3am. It takes me at least 30 minutes to "unwind" before I can even think of going to bed. Would it be possible on Saturday and Sunday mornings for you to just let him out to do his thing, then bring him back inside?" *He* replied "It was 7:10am, past the 7am noise curfew. What do you want me to do, let him piss in the house?!?!? We heard another dog barking before ours, that's what caused our dog to bark. It was one of those small *yippity* dogs. We checked with the police and animal control, it's perfectly fine for us to let him out past 7am!"

Okay, you want to yell Mr. Asshat, so be it. I shot back "First, it wasn't my dog that got yours barking. My dog sleeps in a crate in my room, and if it was him that barked I can assure you, I would've known. Look, I have been nothing but respectful to you by coming to you each time I have had a problem. I would like to also point out that I'm the only one that has done so. Other people just called animal control or the cops. I don't feel I'm being unreasonable here in my request. I can't be the only neighbor that wants to sleep in on Saturday or Sunday. All I'm asking is that instead of tying him up, just sit out there with him for 2 or 3 minutes while he goes, then bring him back in. I would really appreciate it, my wife would appreciate it, and I'm sure all the neighbors that have called animal control on you would appreciate it to."

That seemed to calm him down a bit, and his wife said that was a very reasonable request and that she would "try". I guess that's a start. After this he told me "Bob" (neighbor on the other side of them) has no problems with them or the dogs at all. I said "He's a very passive person who wouldn't admit it if he did." So he said "Well, I need to talk to him and tell him that if it bothers him, he really needs to tell me." They both went on to feed me sob stories about all kinds of crap that I could care less about, must've lasted 15 minutes. It was then over, and he thanked me for telling him Saturday evening that we had a heavy rainstorm coming. He had tons of wood out (he was building shelves) that he started puting away. It rained shortly after. Boy, i'm a really bad neighbor, huh?

Later that morning I saw him talking to the neighbor on the other side of him. I haven't heard what was said yet (but I will), but I'm really hoping that dude grew a set of balls and at least said "Well, you know, the dog is loud and is waking us up all the time. Also, your leash for him is too long and he comes across my driveway into my yard." I know these are true, but I'm not counting on him to be so honest with Marmaduke's handler.

Oh well, till next time...that's the end of this episode.

I come into the sandbox everyday just to see if this thread is updated. My sympathies, JMJ, but thank goodness they aren't my neighbors.

Re: oh yeah, RANT ON (or, "I wish my neighbors would hurry up and die")

Oh yeah, I forgot to add one important thing. I went yesterday afternoon and did the "walk to cure cancer" on minimal sleep with minimal caffeine. Was outside all day then spent time with the kids, then their bedtime. Watched a few shows with the wife, showered, then headed off to bed. I was actually going to get freaky with the wife but passed out in like 30 seconds, before she could even make it to the bed......GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARMADUKE CHEATED ME!!!!!!!!!!!

"Moving and Storage"

Hopefully it's for the "Moving" and not for the "Storage".
