Not all neighborhoods have homeowners associations, usually only "planned" neighborhoods. I wouldn't live in one of those if you paid me, too many rules to follow and too many restrictions on what you can do with your own house and land. Not to mention in many places you can't have a boat.

Yeah i wouldnt live in a place with them either. My brother-in-law had to move from his place because he put a fence up to seperate his yard from the rest, and they put a lean on the house and forced him to move. Then 2 weeks after they moved the HA made it manditory to have fences. Then the guy next to his new house, with fences, got his fence to tall. Like 3" to tall and they made him redo it..

JMJ you need to send this house to the jeff foxworthy show as the redneck house of the week.

well, my wife took this with the cell phone, it's not very good. You can see how funny the house looks without shutters though, every house on the block has them but theirs.

Well, the fit is probably going to hit the shan tonight. My wife is one of the nicest, most caring people I have ever met (it's a wonder she's with me). She went outside politely just a while ago and said to the neighbor "just to let you know, this morning when you were gone your beagle chased about 5 people down the street."

Her reply? "I hate this f'ing neighborhood. I am sick of it! All of you are horrible! Call the cops, I don't care!"

The lady directly across the street from me has a golden retreiver who gets walked every day by a paid dog walker while she is at work. Today the beagle went after her and the golden, it freaked the lady out. So the dog walker wrote a nice letter asking her to keep her dogs in the house from 11-12 while she walks the golden. Boy, I bet that is going to go over well.

My wife also called the dog officer today, the first time we have called him. We have tried working with them, but they just don't care anymore.

She really is a basket case, I think she's usually heavily medicated.

Let us know how it goes man. I've had my share of bad neighbors as per my previous posts in this thread, so I know what you're going through. Hope you guys get a resolution to the situation, although it doesnt look like its going to be pleasant. Just remember, if all else fails, there are people here with "connections" and i'm sure we could arrange for things to happen to expedite the leaving process on their end.

I don't ever want to live in a place with a HOA, either. I certainly don't want to be like JMJ's neighbor, but I don't want anyone telling me that my parents can't park an RV in my driveway for a week, or that I can't put up an 8 foot privacy fence, or that I'm getting a fine for not mowing my lawn last week...

The difference is, you have common sense. My neighbors are friggin insane. I'm listening to Marmaduke bark as I type this. He and the beagle are tied up in the back yard, they are not happy.

One of the biggest problems is that the dog's noise is intruding on JMJ's property. Also, it looks like he might be moving the porch over there too, bit by bit.
