Well, unless your 5 year old has massive ADD, then it's just him learning how to ride a bike, just like we all learned a long time ago.

Re: oh yeah, RANT ON (or, "I wish my neighbors would hurry up and die")

Had them, glad we moved.

Troublesome children.. 3 of them. Had a chain smoker and drinker come over a lot, which a small 2-3 year old who always got in trouble (at his age!!)
Stole our leaf blower
Stole our weed-eater
STOLE OUR BOAT PROPELLER....
Cut our locks.

We were fed up and put cameras out before the stuff was stolen, but go figure one camera didnt work, and they ended up cutting both cords. We heard them over the camera, and we heard his name too. The cops said it wasnt enough, which I can see why.
They were a pain... especially since they got my mom to smoke 1 cigarette once. That just pissed me off, because she had never smoked and they pressured her to. It was only 1, and she never did it again. We moved a week later.

I am MUCH happier now. The only problem I had here (which arent issues anymore) is that we had a WEIRD neighbor, and he moved. He was replaced by a really cool woman who knows our other neighbor, who is a cop.
Oh yeah, i live by 2 gay men too, but they are really nice and cool, so I dont have a problem at all with it. What makes me happy is they dont flaunt it, which shows how respectful they are to others.

No no no, I've had mailboxes like that everywhere I lived except here. Here it is NOT the norm, no one has them. It is very out of place.

Does your dog bark for 2 or 3 hours straight without you teaching it a lesson? I'd guess no

Do you keep busted major appliances in your front yard as recreational devices for your children?

I'm white trash too. I'm too busy playing games inside to keep the yard up. I keep promising myself I'll go trim the bushes and pick up the accumulated trash and re-hang the gate and re-plank the deck and weed the back....

Keep talking, I love my home more and more with every horror story I hear. The last time I had bad neighbors was 10 years ago when I lived in an apartment and the dudes next door liked to blow their cigar smoke out their window, which happened to be right beside our bedroom window. They also had a few loud parties, but with the number of times I've inflicted loud parties on others, I feel I've given up my right to ever complain.

Re: oh yeah, RANT ON (or, "I wish my neighbors would hurry up and die")

To the left we have the old woman who calls the police if you leave your car out on the street 1 second past the start of the prohibited street sweeping period. I stopped offering to shovel her driveway after she pulled that.

To the right we have the guy who's parents willed the entire split level to him. He boarded up the top two floors and lives in the basement. The front steps are chained off and the backyard is full of downed trees and broken appliances. I have already prepared my "Nice guy, kind of a loner" statement for the police.

Across the street is the family gradually bringing the extended clan over from the old country. They have something like 12 cars now, all with different state license plates. Two spaces per house, people!

Other than that it's not too bad.

Re: oh yeah, RANT ON (or, "I wish my neighbors would hurry up and die")

I grew up in "White Trash" country. Rural Oklahoma, Hartland of America and one of the reddest of the red states not to mention buckle of the bible belt. We still can’t get tattoos legally here! That is just the devils work. (And we used to be the meth capitol also.)

We grew up playing on broke-down tractors, in barns full of sharp instruments and around discarded appliances as a matter of course. Old wire spools served as tables...

Dogs barked and roamed free, chickens ran amok and pets ran the gamut.

ADD simply didn't exist because you HAD to be hyper to be able to do all the chores and still be able to play.

Mailboxes could be anything and where mounted in the most convenient place, sometimes just nailed to a fence post.

Maybe they are just misplaced Okie’s? I would say you high-minded city folk just don’t get it.

Nothing compared to your neighbours, but, when I bought my first house, semi-detached, my neighbour Garth, used to come out on his back deck Saturday mornings with his ghetto blaster, and play bagpipe music. Loud.

Just lovely.

Re: oh yeah, RANT ON (or, "I wish my neighbors would hurry up and die")

Some updates. I still haven't spoken with the kid's dad yet about my wife's vehicle. His wife told my wife this morning that he would be stopping by tonight. Hopefully he has his checkbook in hand.

Yesterday I walked across the street to speak with a "good" neighbor. I wasn't out there for 2 minutes talking to her when the "Witless Wonder" came outside with her lovely barking companion. She stared in my direction for a bit then came to the edge of her driveway and sat down with a book. She kept peeking up in our direction, I think she might have been **just** smart enough to know we were talking about her. At one point she got up and took away her kid's bike that was too big for him and made him go back to his smaller bike, probably only because I was outside. When he started to ride down by my house, she stopped him and made him turn around. The sad part is that it won't last.

Today I called the police station to find out how to get this complaint taken care of. Turns out that I actually file it with the Chief's office . They send it to animal control and he will pay them a visit. The problem is that the dog is not violent, so there is no way that animal control can take the dog away from them. I didn't ask about fines, but I know he will pay them repeated visits for multiple complaints. That REALLY put a damper on my plot to force them to get rid of the dog. Who knows though, maybe if they get paid enough visits her husband will make her get rid of the dog. He didn't want it to begin with.

Oh yeah, Sir Barksalot woke me up around 6am for the last 3 days now. We have a noise ordinance that says noise can't start till 7am. She's going to hear about that from me today.
