What are TG'ers plans for the future? (console gaming)

In other words, you've saved $500 dollars, what will you spend it on ?

PS3 ?
XBox 360 ?
That ninentendo thingy ?

The reason I ask is two-fold. I really enjoy this gamming community, and
I would like to see it branch out to support the game systems.

Seeing that the PS3 will have networking built in (as well as at least a 20gb HD).
These systems are moving closer and closer to the PC world,
with one large difference, games that are developed for the game systems
are pretty much guarenteed to work out of the box and not CTD.

I get very, very frustrated spending close to $1200 to put a system together
only to have a $50 game CTD because I did not search 75 forums to find the
correct particular setting for my video/sound/operating system etc.

Seeing as the PS3 hardware is going to kick my PC's butt hardware wise,
I'm saving my money for that (and for the bigger $599 version at that !).

Just wanted to run this up the flag pole !!!

Re: What are TG'ers plans for the future ?

If, and this is a big if, since I couldn't pry my wife away from our TV any more than she can get me away from the PC (ok, she can, but it requires "incentives" that are too graphic for your young eyes) I got a console it would be the Wii.

Wii? Well, Nintendo seems to be the only company that is doing something interesting game-wise. If the system is just "a PC in a box" with a dumbed down line of titles (yeah, I'm looking at you Xbox) then I can't really see the point of it.

Re: What are TG'ers plans for the future ?

Since I won't ever be buying another Sony product again, I'll be going with the XBox360 in a month or two (when my bank account recovers) and a Nintendo Wii when one is available (I don't wait in lines for this stuff).

I have an Xbox 360 right now, and I will likely also pick up the Wii.

Principles of good Sandbox Etiquette:
Assume good faith - Be polite, please! - Work toward agreement. - Argue facts, not personalities. - Concede a point when you have no response to it, or admit when you disagree based on intuition or taste. - Be civil. - Be prepared to apologize. In animated discussions, we often say things we later wish we hadn't. Say so. - Forgive and forget. - Recognize your own biases and keep them in check. - Give praise when due.

Treat others as you would have them treat you

PS3 - No Question, although I may wait until the price declines, there's no reason for me to get it right away.

I'll be getting a Nintendo Wii. The Xbox and Playstation don't interest me in the least...

If... *if*.. I get one (surely my wife will want one), it'll be a Wii if I make the decision.

Re: What are TG'ers plans for the future ?

I lost interest in consoles long ago. PC offers so much more depth and possibility to gaming than consoles ever could via mods, unofficial expansions, etc...

Plus I just can not play a FPS anymore without a trusty mouse/keyboard.

Plus I don't own a television.

Plus I lost my thumbs in an industrial accident.

Plus I'm blind.

Plus I'm on restriction.

Re: What are TG'ers plans for the future ?

I've never owned a console, but the Wii looks like it might be fun (and good exercise), especially if its $150 like some of the rumors are saying.
