How are they going to know if a technology is 100 percent accurate unless they 'consider' it, which they are refusing to do.

Bah.

i can see where they are comming from actually... with all the extra time amatch already incurs its going to be ridiculous in some games. firstly you only hadto watch the superbowl this yearto see that the ref, even with video evidence getsit wrong. the steelers first TD was no way over the lineat any time what so ever. yet it stood, butwose than that it took 5 minutes to come to that conclusion. now not dogging on the american football guys but after a 5 yard rush they tend to have a rest, and then gear up again.... in our football the players are running around all the time, its amuch more demanding game (stamina wise) and therefore 10-15 minutes extra time is a badidea... and you know thats how it will end up. the likes of stevie gerrard still banging in goalsforengland after playing in the champions league fa cup premiershipand world cup.... to extend games and make them that much more difficult is wrong...

although sometimes i cry for the videoevidence, that mexican ref who sent two players off last night is a complet ass... notwo ways about it... he is rubbish, the same ref who gave gerrard a card for blocking a shot...., tit head.

Australia vs Croatia, both battling for second place. A draw is all Australia needs to go through, while Croatia needs a win. As an interesting sidenote, 4 or 5 members of our team are from a Croatian background.

These refs are killing football. That penalty kick was pure BS.

Well that sucks, 2-1 loss to Ghana. The penalty was BS. Italy won as well so that means we would have advanced if we won. My only consolation is that we never scored a second goal. If we had tied 2-2 I would have been a lot more upset since that would have meant that the penalty was the difference between a tie and a win.

If it was 1-1 going into the 2nd half I felt the US had a great shot because Ghana was playing very defensive and using the offsides trap mostly all of the 2nd half. The PK was complete garbage

What a horrible US team, how in the world is this team ranked 5th in the world. We scored one goal, ONE GOAL! How can you expect to advance on that. In my mind we went 0-3-0 the only reason we tied was because Italy scored for us. Well I have to wait 4 more years to be disappointed again. Oh well. Go England!

The 5th in the world ranking is the "Coca Cola" ranking which means bubkis.

As far as number of goals scored, also note that France hadn't scroed a goal in World Cup play since 1998 when they won the cup.

The vs. Italy game should have ben 2-1, we had a goal disallowed that should have been good.

I'm not saying we are better than we are, but the picture isn't as clear as day either.

Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

That was a crappy showing from the US. We only scored 1 goal in 3 games (not counting the own goal). Maybe if our finest athletes decided to play soccer instead of football and basketball we'd be much more competitive.

Oh well, at least the rest of the tournament should be interesting.

Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

Wow..

extremely poor showing by the US...very sad indeed. I really think alot of the blame has to go to Bruce Arena. What the hell do you expect when you play 1 up top?? Especially when it's someone with no pace like McBride? I'm a big fan of McBride..but he can't play up top all alone. He's a great target man and he does a good job finishing when he's in the box.

Arena completely set the tone of the world cup for this team when he played a 4-5-1 in the first match against the Czech Republic...Too cautious and too defensive.

Now maybe the US soccer federation will get a decent coach...I've read and heard rumors that Klinsmann might be available after this World Cup. The German federation would be crazy to let him go though...maybe Gus Hiddink will be available???

ahhh well...GO England, Go Spain, and Go Argentina!!! Anyone but Brasil!!

I too think that Arena has to go. He's done a lot for the program, but, it's time for new blood.

Well it IS the FIFA world rankings, regardless of whether its creation was sponsered by Coca Cola. Yes, they are totally inaccurate and essentially meaningless, but there is no higher authority. They are expected to put a better system in place soon.

Lots of details here.

Nah, Brian McBridge screwed us over on that goal that Damarcus otherwise would have scored. Damarcus was on side, but Brian was in an offside position and was thus blocking the view of the goalkeeper illegally. I thought it was BS at first but after they showed the replay, brian was definatly offsides and obstructing the keeper.

I, too, would like to see bruce leave. Ive disagreed with almost all of his decisions throughout the tournament. He royally screwed up the roster for the czeck game, publically criticized players (at the world cup level, you are a manager...not a coach.), and i think a few other players like Convey should have been playing more.

We have some great second round games coming up though. Most of the games are featuring power houses going up against power houses. I think Ghana will give Brazil a run for their money and ultimately lose. I think Australia will upset Italy.
