Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

dissapointing england second half, the result is all that matters but we certainly didnt dominate paraguay... saving grace is that paul robinson didnt have to make a real save all match the defense was on tip top form...

the germany game i did see, and to be honest the result did not reflect the quality... the first and 4th goalswere awesome... but if you ask any team in the competition if they fancy a game with the germans... bet the answer is yes.... the defending was atrocious, they were pulling too tight far to far up the field inviting costa rica to make a run at them.... and it was the same in their warm-ups their defense needs to get its self together and fast... because every comentator on the day was agreeing against a better attacking side, the germans would have been slaughtered.

didnt see the poland game i had to work... goddamn it...

and for the person.... who said beckham was over rated... yet again, a brilliant ball that was difficult to defend goesin from an own goal header off a beckham cross... over rated my left nut.... lmao...

oh and someone, anyone please kill ronaldinio and rovaldo and ronaldo... please. pretty please... lmao.

The first half of the England game was pretty good but the rest was fairly mediocre. That Mexican referee was having a laugh though. Just about every call was against England.

Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

^^^^As far as I am concerned Paraguay was getting away with alot. They were playing pretty rough.

Trinidad and Tobago vs Sweden was a draw. Very good game they both played very well. First red card of the world cup and the first draw.

I enjoyed the first half of the England vs Paraguay game, but the second half...I fell asleep for.

right, i didnt want to say this, because well when an Englishman complains about the ref... you know the rest... but yes, this referee gave cards that didnt need to be given, free kicks when they were not required... the entire 40,000 English fans gave the ref a sarcastic applause when we won a free kick with david Beckham....

honestly thesereferees need to be better vetted for these competitions.

^^^^Agreed. I could have sworn last World Cup Japan and Korea only got as far as they did because of the refs.

Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

Yes the official was bad...but having said that...what the hell was Eriksson doing subbing in Downing for Michael Owen??? And then he put Joe Cole up top???

I admit not knowing everything about football, but holy crap.. England couldn't clear their lines because they had no one up top to play the ball to. Also Ashley Cole needs to step up a bit...get more into the attack like he does for Arsenal. I guess he's still recovering from the injury that kept him out for most of the season for Arsenal.

One last point about the officiating...and I say this after having about 29 years experience either playing and or coaching the game. ALL referrees make mistakes....and it's the bad calls that we remember. And some are just plain bad. You guys should see some of the clowns we get for my High School teams' games...yikes!!!

Fine. I bet a bag of jelly babies that Sweden win. All bets are off if England have to rely on an own goal by the Swedes to secure the win.

Umm. Excuse me. You're only supposed to talk like that when they lose. In other countries, the players and the manager get blamed for failure, but in england, it's always someone elses fault.

Re: The OFFICIAL TG FIFA World Cup 06 Predictions/discussion/hype thread

Mexico whipped Iran this afternoon 3-1. Iran was really playing well up until that second goal. Wind came out of their sails then it seemed.

So far I think the most enjoyable match to watch was the Sweden/Trinidad tie. The backup keeper for Trinidad performed amazingly and the Swedes really kept the pressure on him the whole game but came up emptyhanded.

Gonna DVR the USA/Czech Republic game tomorrow while I'm at work and keep away from any type of media until I get to watch it. I don't want to know the outcome beforehand

You guys have seen the adidas ad where the two kids pick all star teams for a sand lot game of soccer? That's great!

You can see it here: www.adidas.com/impossible
