We have Plasma TVs all over the office which generally show CNBC/FoxNews and Trading screens. Now we have ESPN up.

Watching the US was an EMBARASSMENT. How can we get traction for "futbol" (as my Spanish brethern say) in the US if we can't even field a competitive team?

I am not so much disappointed by the lose as I am by how bad the US team played. This is so not the team that won the CONCACAF Gold cup in 05.

I'd love to see Germany win again...I've been a german football fan since I was a little kid. Our PBS station would show "Soccer made in Germany" every Sunday morning when I was growing up. God I loved that show...and the announcer Toby Charles.

Finally got around to watching the US/Czech game. What a disaster for the US. They never looked crisp once. Bad passes, footwork, no offensive push at all. Gotta credit the Czechs though, they played nicely.

It's not over is it? As long as they finish in the top 2 of their group they advance correct?

Correct. The Czech are ranked 2 in the Fifa world ranking behind Brazil. I think if we are able to win our other 2 games we should be into the next round.

Iv'e already acceptexd it . I don't expect them to win with Germany after their horrid performance vs Ecuador.

If the the US win the next two they would most likely go through to the next round...however after watching Italy and Ghana I don't think we are capable of winning either match. Ghana's midfield is superb...Essien is superb and they have another guy in the middle..can't remember his name right now..#10 I think...that midfield will control the match against the us..

As for Italy...well I really doubt the US has much hope against them..I hope i'm wrong...Something drastic has to change for them to compete with Italy for an entire 90 minutes..

I wouldn't put much faith in those FIFA rankings. Based on just them technically Japan should have won that match with Australia.

I can't imagine the US making it myself. I swear my 8th grade recess football team could have done better. (Yes with us still being the 13 years old we were at that time.) It was just so bad.

I want the US to advance and get atleast as far as they did in 2002 but it looks like they will be going home. They need a miricale at this point.

Maybe I am just so disappointed because of all the hype. I was expecting the best game of the Cup so far with us being ranked 5 and Czech being 2. This can't be the team that got as far as it did in 02 and won the CONCACAF cup last year. They just seem to lack passion which I find odd. (How the hell would you not be passionate about winning the World Cup? If you can't be passionate about the World Cup well you are in the wrong sport.)

I didnt like our lineup at all. Im not entirely sure what Bruce Arena was smoking. Its not close to over though, we just need to get it back together. If we win our next 2 games we will at least be second in our group. If we do that AND Italy beats the Czecks and then EITHER we score a lot or Ghana ties or beats the Chezcks we get first in our group. But, obviously, thats a stretch. If we get second in our group, we'll more than likely play Brazil in the second round and it would take nothing short of a string of miracles to beat them.
