I can barely hear the 18k sample and nothing higher.

Try turning your volume way up and put it on some good speakers.

I'm almost 27, and can hear up to 16k. I can "feel" 17k and 18k though, kinda like there's a weird pressure on me.

I worked as a vet assistant for 3 years, and spent a lot of time in the kennels. Having 100+ dogs barking non-stop for hours on end will really kill your hearing.

edit: heh, I had my volume at like 50%. Turned up, I could hear to 20k, and feel 21k. Interesting note, in the middle of this someone signed off my buddy list and the sound was super loud. After that, I could only hear to about 18k for a bit. Science experiment!
