Very wise advice...follow it to the letter--for your own good!!

My wife is not tech savvy at all and so she only checks email on an infrequent basis. She's got her own user account on my machine.

When I built my current computer my son inherited the machine he has now so he almost never uses my machine-though he's got a user account too.

I've given both of them strict rules on downloading and attachments and so far we've not encountered any problems...

That said...when I want to get online and either of them are on I am not a patient person.

Re: Computer Ownership

When my GF and i lived together we had just one computer(mine). I dont mind her using it, because she knows if she screws around too much on it, i'll get angry!

What i do hate though, is trying to sit down and play a game like bf2, and she comes up saying "can i check this out, or i will be 5 mins etc

Re: Computer Ownership

I run my own domain and Exchange Server at home. We have 5 computers and we share 4 of them, each with our own user accounts. One is my private box and she does not have log-on rights on it.

There are several reasons for this:
1) She currently has more than 200 icons on her desktop. (Yes, I just counted them.)
2) She currently has more than 5000 (No, that's not a typo) items in her Inbox.
3) On more than one occasion I've seen her click OK on a dialog but can't tell me what she just agreed to.
4) My porn stash. (jk, I keep that locked up on a network share.)

She's not computer illiterate, she's just sloppy and that annoys me.
